My friend told me that Road Kings are lighter than Ultras but I wouldn't know, never dropped an Ultra.

OUCH!     That looks like my Purple Haze.  Had to run out to the garage and make sure she was OK.  Painful picture.

It was a bad good phone call.  Bored by what I was supposed to be doing.  Wanting to call someone on my own so no one else who wanted to call me could.  Voila, inspiration....  Call Dave Mackie!!

You know.  Just to get information.  That's all.  Just to further define the choices.  For the time this winter when the Road Glide will lose the cam tensioners.  Scored a great price on a six speed gear through eBay last week so it should all be done at the same time (shouldn't it ? [really, would be silly not to {  rationalizing bastard!! }]) .

So I call Dave.  And he is as perfectly informative and helpful as ever.  Simply a great guy to speak to and work with.  Just getting information after all.  Not ready to get parts yet.  So 20 minutes later the call is over and I've spent whatever cams, gear drive kit, gaskets, lifters, oil pump and a cam plate cost. 

Oh yeah, Barry Gerolamy's reworked throttle body is already here.  So are the dress up lifter blocks, pushrod tubes, rocker boxes and the adjustable pushrods (some are leftovers from red bike unzippification).  The six speed kit is here.  Greg is fixing me up with a side cover for cheap.  UPS should deliver the new clutch cable and a couple of other small parts tomorrow.  So, yeah, I'm not really doing anything to the Road Glide as a winter project right now.  Just maintenance.....

Tell JD I hosed the $750 limit.  I should be spanked.

Always said the bike would lose the tensioners.  That's not a mod.  It's an improvement; dammit!

And... well....  the way it's geared and where it's torque curve is now it begs for one more gear out on the highway.  New cams will move the torque curve even earlier.  Gear set will be even handier then.
