we are in the minority
« on: July 08, 2008, 12:00:06 PM »

according to a service guy at the dealership just south of the nascar track in loudon...we are in the minority...they have sold a lot of the 110 cvo's and had no problems with any of them...we are just a group of a few people bitching because there have been a couple of problems on a couple of bikes...at least that is what he told me.  He reads this site and says we have blown this problem all out of proportion.  Well speaking for myself, I have had two head gasket failures and the only other 2007 cvo ultra my dealership sold had the same problem at least once.  maybe he is drinking the same kool-aid as the manufacturer.

I would have to tell that SM "thanks for convincing me to go out and find another stealer to perform my warranty work". Or you could even tell him that denial is a river in Egypt not CT.

So following that logic, this site is disproportionately represented by the small group of folks who just happened to have this rare breakdown.  Often, as in your case, multiples of the same problem.

While the vast majority of 110" owners happily motor along, problem-free.

So you either get a total POS engine, or a perfect one.  Sure, yeah, I buy that.

Find a new dealer, this one's smoking the funny stuff.

HMMmmmmmm....................

if the majority of the members on this site that have 110's have the problem, then maybe it's being a member of this site that's causing the oil leaks!

crap!
mine's not leaking yet, I need to get off this site ASAP! :vrolijk27:

Yep, I'm sure none of them were leaking when they were bought.......you usually have to ride them a few thousand miles before they leak :D

An old friend of mine ownes a few dealerships here in Ca. His wifes '07 CVO Springer started leaking at 200 miles. First thing he said when he found out I had an '07 CVO, one year ago, was "is it leaking yet". He has always been upfront with the 110 problems. Not many like him though.

I think the service people are trained to say all is good. I have a friend that is pretty candied with me and he has admitted there is a problem but the 08 mdl's seem to be better.

IMO

No EPA restrictions = no heat related problems. The oversea bikes are tuned richer which equal cooler running bikes and are probally geared differant.

A long time HD guru says the first thing that he would change with the currant bikes would be the drive train.

I friend of mine works at the MoCo, and has said many times in the past,
that the European bikes all have different transmissions. They all have
helical gears because they would not accept the noise of the 5th gear.
I have never heard him say anything about a different engine thou!

I've been thinking my 08 SERK sure is geared tall. First is too tall to creep along without clutch and 5th seems like all I need on highway up to 80 mph, s there a countershaft pully available with one more cog?

Not sure what you have done to your bike.  After mine was broke in good, I added a Stage 1 breather, Rinehart True Duals, and a SERT.  Had it dynoed.  Ran like a different bike.  6th gear ok from 60-65 mph or so.

Would definitely swap out the exhaust for something else & do the stage 1 if you have not already done it.
