Hopefully, some day we could all meet, wouldn't that be a real trip? Having all these bikes in one place!

That's a smoldering dream of mine, as well.  Among the FXR "regulars" here, we live in FL, NY, CO, IL, and AL.  Not exactly around the corner from each other.  But someday, who knows?

And congratulations, George on your Blue Flame.  I look forward to hearing more about it as you experience it first hand. :2vrolijk_21:

Hello All, First I'd like to say that I wouldn't ever think to slight anyone. I can honestly say that I have received so much quality information from all the guys here. REDFXR2, FXRevo99, 103Hunder, Elvislee, Hoist and hdFRX3 all helped me during this process. I would like to Thank You all. Without all of your info, your experience, your knowledge of these great bikes I would have been lost. In fact, I was  thinking of buying a 95 Dyna most of all. Thats why my first post was asking what the rake was on the FXR's. I remember saying to myself NOT to buy anything before 1995 because if was the last upgrade to the Evo engine. Prior to '95 I think the rake was 33degrees. I didn't want that as I felt it would be harder turning at slow speeds. So a 1995 w/ a 28degree rake(Dyna) seemed to my choice. I also remember reading that if you buy an earlier FXR(('94 and older) be prepared to know how to weld, have a very hard time finding the right parts and learn how to fabricate parts that could not be found. So the '95to '98 Dyna was my original first choice. But, after looking at the FXR's 2,3 and 4's I realizes how wrong my thinking was. Thats what I owe to all of you. Just listening and learning to the advise, suggestions, experience, recommendations and expertice, I shortly leared I was looking at the wrong bike. So to all of you, Mike, Tim, Blaine, Brian, Dave and Hoist(Howie) You have my greatest gratitude. If not for you guys, I'd be riding a Dyna.   Thanks All of you, G.

Geprge my friend....You are most welcome  :2vrolijk_21: Ya know; I was thinking right after ya got the BEAUTIFUL blue 3 how happy I was that it turned out for you as well as it did. What more can you ask for than to go through the process you and all of us went through then to see it work out like it did and at the same time get to communicate with people you have never met and have them help you like they did. That's whats great about this site; folks here honestly and truly are good folks and to see people come together who have never met and lend a hand and see a good result of that communication is a good thing...My hats off to all the folks here who took the time to see this through....Hey, and it was fun too :)...Semper Fi Leatherneck :2vrolijk_21:.......DON"T FORGET THE PICS when you get that thing  :2vrolijk_21:

That was perfectly stated elvislee!!!!

To go from a 95-98 dyna....to 1 of 64 1999 FXR3's is quite an amazing journey.....and what's really amazing about it is you made the right decision.....you went from owning an evo to owning something very special a 1999 FXR3 Dark Candy Blue With Flames ....which was obviously something important to you....anywhere you ride that bike you are going to feel special....it's similar to owning a 356 porsche....and as the years go by it will even be more special....

I am thankful you have asked all the questions you asked during this journey....it spurs all of us to answer why we enjoy these bikes so much and it shows us how important this site is.....as it provides a platform to speak about something that you can not find at the dealership....

I can't wait for discussions about handlebars and cams or whatever else comes up.....I can't wait to hear about your first ride.....

A week or so ago I gave the wrong info regarding how to tell the year of a motor vehicle. The year mentioned was 2000. Well the correct answer it the letter "Y". However YOU can tell by counting the tenth digit/letter and that willindicate the year. I only have from 1983 to the present. I do have the other info prior to 1983 but I haven't found it yet. So this is how it goes:
1983,1984,1985,1986, 1987,1988,1989
   D      E      F     G       H      J      K                                   THERE ARE NO LETTERS:  "O","I", "Z"

1990, 1991,1992,1993,1994,1995,1996,1997,1998,1999,

  L       M      N     P      R      S     T     V      W     X

2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,         2010
   Y     1      2      3      4      5      6     7       8     9      TO BE DETERMINED

To go from a 95-98 dyna....to 1 of 64 1999 FXR3's is quite an amazing journey....

I still remember how I had read several books about HD's, and decided I wanted a FXR.  But after little luck in finding one, I went to alocal shop in NC to look at a '00 Dyna, and there was my FXR2 on consignment.  The dealer had just gotten it and hadn't advertised it yet.  I looked at the Dyna and bought the FXR2 the next day.

.....anywhere you ride that bike you are going to feel special....it's similar to owning a 356 porsche....

I prefer the '69 Z28 Camaro analogy, myself. ;D  But I could definitely live with a 356, too.

I really am impressed.  A Blue Flame going to a relative newbie.  A bit jealous, actually.  But at least it's sort of in the family. ;)

George....

I remember that for sure....having to tell the person I had negotiated a price on his bike (another FXR2 arresting red)  that I wasn't going to purchase his.......I remember after purchasing the bike I own now that my buddy and I stepped into a restaurant to eat something before returning the 335 miles back home, before I could eat or even enjoy the bike, I knew I had to call the this other "Seller".......arrrrggghhh lol....as soon as I told him, he of course took it fine....which I was grateful for.....at which point I turned my attention to eating my lunch and looking forward to riding my "new" bike home finally relaxed....laughing......BUT I couldn't tell him until AFTER I Purchased the bike had was "sole" owner....lol

I give you big points for the courtesy call.  I'd much rather have a prospective buyer let me know he had gone in another direction than just disappear.
