Just checking the web to see what I could find I'm surprised that no one else caught this today

Great catch.  I still cannot believe the 110 is still around.  I was about to jump back on the CVO wagon, but I think I'll wait..again.

The only thing they could do is stand behind the 110 in an effort to show it's a viable platform. If they went running after only two years, it would be a total admission of failure. Besides, who'd plunk down good money for a motor they'd know was rushed through R&D just to get it out quick because of the 110 problems? They only had one choice, and they made it.

What I don't understand is how can Jim's put out bigger CI's and not display the problems of the 110.  This is rumor to me only but I heard that MoCo shares information with Jim's ie:  molds, cast etc.,.  Right?  Wrong?  Anyone know?

Yes, Jims and HD have a longstanding relationship. As for why can't Harley get it right.....? That's a great question, one that begs to be asked in public.

Hard to believe they would do two Dyna's and drop the CVO Springer.  It would have made more sense to keep the Springer.  It seemed like a good seller.

Springers are the only ones the shops around here have left.  Not sure if they were the last ones delivered or they just didn't sell that well.  MoCo does like the Dyna series though huh.

I think they had several choices and they made the worst one they possibly could from a durability, quality and customer relationship standpoint from a current, informed owner perspective.  It appears there is some type of "recall" or service event taking place with the 110's, from what I have read here, but  I have to disagree on the one choice comment.  I am with an automotive OEM and  I have to tell you, it would have never, ever got this far with such a pos engine from our outfit.

Perhaps the 110 contains significantly new, reworked, re-engineered parts, that share little in common with its two older brothers, i.e. 2007 and 2008.  I'll be interested to see how the 2009 version is put together.

I was at one of my stores today getting my 5K service completed and they had 7 2008 CVO's in stock. 3 ultras, 1 rk, 2 dynas and 1  Springer.    I was tempted to put oil pans underneath all of them ;D

What do you think would have been the right choice? The 110's and 96's are identical except for the top-end. Should they have scrapped eveything and just started over because of the 110's? They still need to maintain compatibility between the two platforms, which would mean dropping back to a 103, or pushing to the 113. Either way, it's a huge admission of problems that they are not willing to do publicly. I think their hands were tied.

awesome 22nd post frost, thanks - this is everything coming out next week then

too bad no SERK in o9 - sure hope like hell this means they've got a real plan on the 11o's

time will tell  :vrolijk_11:

And I agree with Chief, this was the only option the Moco had, they couldn't kill a 2 year old engine & expect everyone not to notice .....
