My New Toy
« on: July 21, 2008, 12:58:24 PM »

I have been flying ultralights for thirty years but have been out of them for a few years. One of the local guys I flew with decided to part with one of his so here I go again. Now I have to get all the associated STUFF for this sport. This weekend I camped, flew, boated and rode my bike!  :) :) :)

very nice!  Do you have enough property and zoning approvals to "fly in, fly out" or do you have to trailer it?  What's the take off / landing distances?

Is that an old Eipper Performance Quicksilver MX?  I flew one a couple of times back in the 70s during my hang gliding years....

It is an Eiper MXL. Full three axis control. Late 80's model. Rotax 502 two cylinder, two stroke 46 HP.
We have our own field. Davis Field located at 37.57.43.75 N and 87.46.43.00 W. Use Google Earth or it is on the St. Louis Sectional.
Take off about 500 feet and land a little shorter. Take off seems to be longer than before...MMM...Have to think about that. Tried to upload video but must convert to an MPEG.
When my brother and I first started, we trailered and put together every time. Now we have our own air park with hangers, concrete floors and bathrooms! We have one of the best dealers just south of us and his field is called Posey Patch.
