How to remove Speedo and tach faces?
« on: July 23, 2008, 07:16:27 AM »

Has anyone removed the glass face on the tach and speedo? I have 08 Dyna SE and both lenses have a small line from condensation at some point in time. I would like to clean it off cause it is one of those small things that just annoy the heck out of me.

Thanks again

Someone can step in if I'm wrong but I don't think you can remove the glass.

Had a Deuce with a Tach that fogged up a lot.  Warranty replaced it , but said it was a one time deal.  Other experience is that you leave it overnight inside and if its still fogged next day they replace it.  Didn't you buy your bike to keep it inside?

Mine never fogged up that I saw. This happened when I hauled the bikes home from Fla in the trailer. You can see a fine line in the glass from the condensation that looks like you should be able to wipe it right off but it willn't because it is on the inside. Factory rep siad it wasnt enough to warrentty replacement which doesn't sit very well with me cause when your riding the bike it seems like you are allways looking at the mark.

Since electronics don't like water, I'd figger it would die totally if it really got wet inside, really wet.

Hmmm......  could that be a hint.  OK, get the firehouse, aim at your speedo but stay away from the paint!

There has to be a way to disassemble the gauges, because there are folks out there selling replacement faces for them.  http://www.imageselite.com/speedoandtach.htm

Thanks for the info. I checked it out and it looks like you must send them the gauge so they can do the installation.
