103thunder,

Thanks for the feedback.  One of my biggest headaches with a new bike is finding an exhaust system to meet my needs (Good flow, not excessively loud, mellow at cruising speeds).  I hate wasting money on several different pipes until I find something I like, and I was afraid I might have done it again. I haven't been able to listen to any 103" engines with various pipes yet, so I just winged it with the SE mufflers.  Too bad the stock mufflers aren't just a little less restrictive - I actually like the look of the stockers and the sound at cruising speeds is decent.

I agree that they sound weird! Better when you thump it. I to might try those mikuni baffles first. Any ideal how much$ and are they to loud? Louder then the reinharts?

The P.A.T. baffles are around $65 each.  As far as how loud they are, at idle they are not real loud -at WOT they are REAL LOUD.  I have never compared them side by side with the Rineharts, but Rineharts are fairly loud & I would say the sound is fairly similar.

get the high performance baffles with those rhineharts - if they don;t have them  - wait for them - don;t forget to change to good full flow air filter system

Hey Shovel. WIth the Rineharts and HP baffles, did you not experience a torque loss over stock?

grc....if you like the looks of the stock pipes, pull the baffles, cut them 60% and slip them back in.  Sound is actually quite good and a friend insists they helped the dyno numbers.  Just a thought if you want to stick with the stock look.

I thought the baffles were welded in like the rest of Harley's newer mufflers; now I'll have to take another look.  Thanks for the tip.

They are welded in(at least every set I've seen was)

I have cut the welds & removed them easy enough however, it's just two spot welds at the back end.

At first the SEII really suck on my bike, I thought 350.00 buck shot to hell.20,000 miles latter they have a note that sounds mellow will crusing, but speaks up when going thru the gears. Not as loud as the all great and famus BUBS, but getting there. For now I'm happy, but next week ?   [smiley=cool3.gif]    don

Andy, get it dyno tuned by somebody experienced.  Not just for the performance gains but your bike will also run cooler and your exhaust will stay chrome instead of turning colors.  Do it right away, to be kind to your motor.

I've got the 65115-98B mufflers on mine. I took the "baffles" out and they look like old cherry bomb glaspak mufflers. I don't see any way to modify them. I started the bike up with them out, and now have to have hearing aids, wow, loud doesn't even begin to describe the sound.
