What is MoCo's 'proper name' for the end-slotted bolts used to attach the bags to the touring bikes?

I have always known them as "dzus" screws...  I believe they originated in the aerospace industry...

(edited to correct a brain fart...I have always known then as dzus fittings...)

They may be called by other names - but the origin was:

Dzus fastener

Dzus (pronounced Zooss) is a proprietary name for a type of quarter-turn fastener often used to secure skin panels on aircraft. It was invented by William Dzus in the early 1930s. Quarter-turn fasteners are used to secure panels in equipment, airplanes and racing cars that must be removed often and/or quickly. [1]

That there would be known as a "bail head stud," part no. 90400-00.

On the contrary, I thought they were known as "Bare Backs". If you look in JP Cycles catalog that's what the are listed as.

They have the amazing ability to increase their weight and work their way past everything in the bag to end up on the bottom...amazing piece of hardware.

Of course that is in proportion to how much crap is in the saddlebag.  Empty they seem to stay in; when you have the bag full of debris, they wheedle out, get to the bottm and squayfull under the heaviest piece of crap in the bag.
They are indeed the most amazing hardware on the bike, how they decide to either under the bag liner or in it is one of natures mysteries...

And the washer no doubt gets separated form the D-ring piece doubling the search effprt...and then you realize that somehow, it stuck to the rubber grommet...btdt

It only sticks to the grommet when it falls out on its own.  If you remove the fastener for bag removal the odds of it falling off are based on proximity to a painted part.
