Hey Fat Bas
I considered the Lindy Bar as well, simply to protect bike in case it falls. I worry about that too much. But I finally went with the Kuryakyn adjustable highway bars. I need to stretch out my legs on long rides and dont like to have my feet up high. For me its just not comfortable and I cant get my feet back to the brakes or shifter quick enough should I run into a sticky situation. I am 6 feet tall and can adjust the bar to stretch out perfectly. I also looked at the different highway bars that mount under the floorboard but all seemed a bit flimsy to me when I put my feet on them. I am 250 lbs and and simply resting my foot on undermount pegs give a half inch play. I dont like any give, I want it rock solid. This combination is rock solid.
On the down side - I was not impressed with the chroming job by Kuryakyn on this piece. Usually they are top notch. But this even had rust on the ends in the sealed bags! The bar is also too short for Softails with floorboards. I had to buy the 2.5 inch extention and still find it about half an inch too short. My leg hits against the aircleaner when I am on the pegs, and my feet are angled slightly inward. I prefer my feet to be angled @ 10 degrees outward. I will solve this problem by putting on this cool double double spiked heavy breather hehe. Should give me a half inch more room at the knee area. Since I have the extentions on the pegs and angled for a comfortable position I cannot flip them up and get them out of the way when I put a bike cover on, as it hits the floorboards. My bike cover still goes over but I dont like this...I have been called anal retentive by many. cant help it.
There never seems to be an easy answer for me, but I am satisfied enough that I will not change it.
