Hello all. Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere.
I've been lurking for a bit and am close to pulling the trigger on an 08 Springer CVO, but after reading many of the posts here it seems I can expect some issues with leaking gaskets, etc.  Are these issues as prevalent as they seem? And, more importantly, can the common problems be fixed or is this just something you "live with" and constantly maintain, i.e. a design/build problem with the 110 motor itself?  For the money, it seems more than a little frustrating...

Thanks for any perspective you can offer.

FWIW i was faced with the same issue and concerns earlier this month.  spent hour upon hour reading this site and others about the 110's issues and made myself pretty informed.  i went ahead with the purchase and couldn't be happier.  since bringing home my 2008 CVO Springer i have continued to monitor the drama and in some of the latest news learned that while many owners of bikes with the 110 would be getting letters from the MoCo i would not.  the implication is that while avoiding making a public statement, they have behind the scenes been changing things and working towards a combination of parts and assembly that works.  i for one still plan on keeping a close eye on the trouble areas and i did buy the extended waranty but would not trade a thing for all the fun and excitement owning this bike has provided thus far.  i bought mine 7/7/08 and supposedly bikes purchased after a certain date, which mine and yours would be, are not being included in the newest fix as it has apparently already been done.  getting close to 900 miles now and while that is still early, i am optimistic that i will be trouble free, and if not, there is always waranty work.

Let me just add that IMHO, if you have a line on a 2008 SE Springer you better get it.  I like the 2008 alot better than the modded Rocker that is the 2009 CVO Springer.  Not that the 2009 looks bad, its just that it seems like the 2008 is more its own bike and i am not really down with the new Rocker based one.  I was at an event this past weekend and it was a tremendous feeling standing back unobserved watching people walk past other bikes only to stop at the Springer and make all sorts of comments.

That's a pretty neat feeling isn't?!?

My .02 is if you like the '08 buy it! Get the extended warranty if you have doubts (that's what insurance like the e.w. is for) and ride it with a smile on your face. Best of luck.

Not purchased, manufactured.

Find out from the dealer when the bike was manufactured and you will know if you are going to be affected by the recall to fix the potential leaking head gaskets. With regards to the 08' CVO Springer that you are looking at, buy it if you feel that it is the bike for you. I can tell you that the CVO Springer is a blast to ride, it is a torque monster and has plenty of horsepower. Evaluate what exactly you want from a bike and see if the CVO Springer meets your needs. If the answer is yes, go get it and don't look back. I have around 3500 miles on my 08' CVO Springer and have not had any problems, but my bike is on the list for the recall so I'll just go take it in for the fix when it is time. Fortunately, I also have a 06' Road King so dropping the CVO Springer off at the dealership for maintenance isn't a big deal for me. Good luck with your decision.

Does anyone have any updates on a potential recall due to oil leaks?  My 07 is less than one month away from being two years old and thus having the original warranty run out.  I don't see any signs of leaks after 5000 miles, but I'd hate to find one a couple days after the warranty expires.  I'm wondering if I shouldn't bring it in with that complaint just to be safe.
