Running Crappy
« on: July 30, 2008, 02:06:31 PM »

Hi All,
I need the power of the collective.
My 04 SEEG runs great on the highway but when it gets hot, it's like the choke just closes(yes, i know it's FI and there is no choke) little black sooty smoke and just like it's starving for air.
I've tried the easy stuff; plugs and wires, air cleaner, cable adj. it's got me scratching my head. My indy mechanic thinks it's a sensor so we ordered one, any one had this dilemma and any thoughts?

Thanks, Darcy

I thought '07 was the first year for O2 sensors.

Correct, no O2 sensors on an '04 model. There is a sensor in the intake that could be shorting?  Is it throwing any codes?

Just called my friend and left a message, we have an air, idle, fuel mixture sensor on backorder.
And I ask what he thought about the MAP sensor.

Thanks, Darcy

If Iowa is like FL then all the pumps are running up to 10% ethanol already.
Doesn't matter if you pump premium or not.
If your bike starts running ratty, especially at idle, it's probably because of this congressionally mandated ethanol crap plan.
