Little busy w/ life and stuff but did put about 100 mostly freeway miles on yesterday. I continue to be impressed w/ the handling and stability of the bike. I'm not pushed around by truck's windblast like I am on the EG. Giving it the old push left - push right going down the freeway the bike responds very quickly to the input. Did a u turn in a subdivision street w/ no problems. Still haven't opened it up to push toward redline. Cruising in 6th I'm about 2500 @ 70 mph. I've got to check the air pressure in the rear shocks but I'm still very pleased w/ the ride and it's ability to take on various "bumps" in the road.
Put on a used windscreen and that is much better than stock but still not quite high enough (I'm 6'). Was able to smoke and hear the stereo much better.
Need to start making it my own soon. Obviously need some footpegs. Seems as it the shift pegs are placed "higher" on this than on the EG so will try and drop the heel shifter a "notch". Also expect to get the seat off and see about attaching the hardware for the rider's backrest. I've one from a previous Ultra and assume that it will fit. Also considering rear crash bars as much for the protection and the ability to hang the pouches on them. Rethinking the tour pak. @ $1200 plus all the hardware, etc. may just go w/ a detachable rack and some soft luggage??? Do miss it though. I've an older passenger backrest which is larger than stock on this bike. Though the Mrs. hasn't complained I may try it out to give her a little more support. We're now seriously considering taking this to Milwaukee as opposed to the EG. She advises that her part of the seat is superior to the EG stock seat and if we can ship our stuff to the hotel we'll be on it at month's end.
I have loved each and every one of your posts on your new SERG.
I have a deposit on a SERG in the Silver Titanium, it not due in until early 09. They had a deposit on the Yellow one they get end of Aug, no deposit on the Orange they get in Nov. After seeing yours I thought about switching, called the dealer and the Orange has a deposit on it....
I am glad to hear it does have the slot for the riders back rest. I love hearing about the ride and effects of trucks and wind.
I am wanting to do the detachable chopped tour pack in the solo position, as my wife rides her own bike. I am hoping it would clear the stock seat.
Your write ups are going to make the wait for mine that much harder...
