Thanks all. The 12" windscreen which I added (previously had from the '00) helps a lot. Still not enough protection for touring (I'm 6' tall) so I'll be exploring other options. Reports here don't bode well for Glockworks so I'll have to get into the Clearview threads a little deeper. Mounted some previously used HD mounts and aftermarket footpegs on the crashbar and that was a big help. Also purchased and installed the 4 point mounting hardware kit in preparation for adding a luggage rack. Relatively painless install until I discovered the kit lacked four bolts that were supposed to have been included. Off to the dealer and they supplied the bolts and all was good. Installed the detachable luggage rack and I'm kind of lukewarm on it. The turn up at the rear of the rack makes it difficult to put any decent sized bag on. Parts guys are unsure if I can use the detachable tour pak rack and still use the sissy bar but I want to explore that option before I decide as to keeping the already purchased rack. Swapped out the sissy bar pad for another previously owned one (off of the '00) and it's larger size should provide more support for the BSR.
Approaching 500 miles now and the love affair continues. I'm exploring the lean angle and have yet to grind metal but that's coming. Have noticed that 5th gear is noisier than the rest. That sux because I'm spending a lot of time in 5th. Ran a spell at 80 mph today and that was right around 3,000 rpm in 6th. Should hit 500 miles tomorrow so we'll start running it up to 4,000. Did a 120 mile jaunt yesterday and a$$ was hurting at about 100 miles. BSR did not complain though. Roads traveled yesterday were mostly 2 lane w/ lots of rises, dips and curves. RG did great. Neutral continues to vex me. I'm blaming the Syn 3. Somewhat clunky too. Why oh why do they put this crap in our trannies? Saddlebag lock on the right side won't. Left side is ok. Will get that fixed at the 1,000 service. Got 40 mpg on the last fill up.
As expected, no one at the dealer knows chit about this bike or the appropriate parts, etc. for it. I do know, by visual observation, that the detachables from the previous years won't work on this bike (different slots on the ends). Was pleasantly surprised to see the paint on the inboard side of the saddlebags. Was unpleasantly surprised to find that the bike was delivered w/ 0 #s in the rear shocks. Put in 40 # and will see how that goes. Rear shocks air valve is located on the left side as in previous years. Electronics are all working fine and the stereo is doing a decent job w/ the taller shield.
This bike makes me nervous when parked because of the attention it's receiving. Seems like lots of folks want to touch it. I thought that was courtesy 101 to not eff w/ somebodies ride but guess some folks missed that class. Baby does draw a crowd. Lots of heads turning on the road too. My son followed me on our jaunt yesterday and and observed a lots of riders doing double takes on the way by.
All for tonight. I know -

. I'll get some pics of some of the above stuff posted tomorrow.
