Great formula, but it doesn't appear to be adjusted for drag and relative humidity. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

But BLM777

GRC's #s are mathematical #s that do not take into consideration the following!

1)   weight
2)   wind drag
3)   how many MGD's Shovel has had [smiley=shocked2.gif]
4)   wind push
5)   Or a host of other factors that I can't think of right now.

So, whether you have 50 or 500 H/P,  with stock gearing, stock tire and a 5800 RPM redline, 140.8 mph is all she will do.

And GRC did what I asked.
He gave facts, I didn't want info on adjustment factors.
Tater can make up those for me! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Oh it's math we are looking for...  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Strictly theoretical, I always say that the top speed of any vehicle is directly proportional to the size of the balls of the driver.  In mathematical terms it would look something like;

ts=(h*b)gw-m

where ts = top speed
              h = horse power
              b = balls
             gw = gear to weight ratio - (See Tater)
              m = MGD      [smiley=beerchug.gif]

In laymans terms, again, it doesn't matter what the bike can do, it is all about the driver and their abilities. For a more clear explanation, we all refer to the ever decreasing blonde dot in front of us on the low-rider! [smiley=drink.gif]

The was with the rev limiter at 5800rpms now bump it up to 6500rpms and see the difference in top speed.

Well MR. Magoo

That assumes that Sparky's rev limiter is higher than 5800.

Since Magoo is my hero I have only one question.

When we gonna see 158 on the GPS?

Ok, I'll ask (and I really don't know but am certainly now curious); what is the quickest rate of speed that anyone here has documented with their GPS or speeding ticket?

HD - I have been quiet untill NOW and you asked for it (just a minute  [smiley=drink.gif]) made me thirsty saying that:

here goes HD[bgcolor=Yellow][/bgcolor]
this thread is performed on a test track and should not be perfomed by any untrained person = remember - this thread has been perfomed by professionals - do not try this at home
(whew  [smiley=drink.gif] thirsty again) continue on with posts
so I take it the professional theory is lower speeds are lower set rpm's difference no matter what mods are done compared to higher rpm's with apples to apples comparable mods - this is my only question - politely headed back to my corner for a  [smiley=drink.gif] MGD and watch this professional tested test track thread [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Yeah, 'er 'uh, shovelhead71,
 Explain this to me as if I were an amateur.  Exactly what is your question? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  Later--HUBBARD

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Fatboy,
 Oh, how it burdens me, to have to repeat myself.  [smiley=yes.gif] Be that as it may, as you are a Newcomer to this Great Site, and I value your input, try to follow the friendliness and humor, contained in the following repetition of one of my posts;  "If azzholes were Airplanes, this site would be an airport!"  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Later--HUBBARD

**************************************************************

Just got in from a day of good riding!
Was reading this post.
Got to the Shovelhead post, read it and then read it again.
Then I thought "What the hell was his question"

Thanks Tater----------> My thoughts exactly! [smiley=laugh.gif]

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Twolane,
 Please allow me to walk you through this.  My statement was symbolic to "I don't believe that report to be accurate."  In the same light as the report from the Warren Commission concluded, that Lee Harvey Oswald was the "lone assassin" in the murder of JFK.  Yeah, riiiiight!  I had Monkeys flyin' out my azz, then, too, if that is true!  Do you follow me?  Sorry, no pictures.  When someone, hell anyone, shows me a bone-stock Bagger, that will do 140 MPH out on the Highway, I'll produce some!  Later--HUBBARD

 I stand corrected, sir.  You are a "FULL CVO MEMBER", of this Great Site, and I failed to recognize that.  [smiley=dunce2.gif] My humble apologies.  Later--HUBBARD
