Yo dawg!! [smiley=confused5.gif] what you been smokin!! Your speedometer must be broke. [smiley=shocked2.gif] 275 lbs and pegging the spedo. I think not. You must sportin at least 120 ci  !!! [smiley=laugh.gif]

I'm not going to BS ya man.  I've had MANY bikes that were SIGNIFICANTLY faster than my SEEG.  Seriously, if this seems unreasonable to you, you better have your bike looked at sir.  I'm certain that you have the only one that tops out at 115.  She's broke.

Dr. Evil - DJW, Is it possible that Maverick's speedometor does not correctly reflect the speed he is travelling?  Cause your right. It only takes a couple of moments to bury the needle and then you don't know how fast you are going. Of course, twolane is right unless you have some other way of measuring speed. Not that I would try to stay on it at those speeds, but curiousity has had me up there. These bikes can get you all kinds of tickets.   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

And it's fun too.  heee heeee. [smiley=1syellow1.gif]

Mrs. We, I suppose it's possible..... just not probable.

I was starting to think that maybe orange was just way faster than red.....  [smiley=laugh.gif]

I think the most likely culprit is a completely stock bike... stock pipes, no a/c kit, no re-map.  That will rob him of much of the potential power.

A friend has a red 05... completely stock and I smoke him, both off the line and on the highway.  I think that small investment in the pipes, etc. makes a huge difference. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Really,  All I have changed on my bike was;
[list bull-redball]
  • EFI race tuner kit part # 32107-01C Replaced race tuner with Power Commander III

  • 1450 ST1 EFI Air Cleaner part # 29773-02A

  • Vance and Hines Pro 2 into 1 pipe HS-99-04 FL part # V17533

And the only reason I even did this much was because the cross over pipe burned my leg.

I'm way more interested in chrome than engine modifications.  Wow!  I guess I lucked out, cause I can't tell you much fun it is now.  Of course ----- I had to find a tuner to make it this way, but Woah!  It has the ability to go really fast. See it's not just the orange ones.   [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Also, remeber, GPS ain't perfect.  Mine reads something like 128 as the max speed today...I may have hit 100 recently, even 105, but not 128.  The reason?  Not sure, but remember the GPS uses a differential calculation and there are times that it loses satellites.  It knows where you were at a given time, it knows where you are at a given time, then calculates.

Take everything with a grain of salt...and a measured mile and a stopwatch at full throttle.

115 on a stocker I weigh 220 lbs.  [smiley=shocked2.gif]Everyone else is pulling your leg! [smiley=confused5.gif] [smiley=1syellow1.gif] [smiley=6.gif] [smiley=7.gif]

220 lbs for a rider, 740 lbs for a bike thats close to 1000 lbs. We are talking about almost 1/2 ton of rolling hog. Sounds like some spedos need to be calibrated on some bikes. On a stocker maybe 120 on a good day with cool weather and a tail wind!

Smoke lots of smoke!!!   [smiley=laugh.gif]   [smiley=shocked2.gif]  [smiley=shifty.gif]  [smiley=confused5.gif]

I still say ride it like you stold it or till you peg the spedo!!

Maverick

We "are" talking Screaming Eagle Electra Glide here.  Right?

If yes,  then I want to know where you got a 740 lb. SEEG?

And if memory serves me right, ask M. White (a fellow Texan) about how fast
he went at Maggie Valley!

No smoke there!

Must be just in your garage!
[smiley=nixweiss.gif] maybe something burning on your bike and that's why it weighs less? Hmmmmm maybe even affected the speedo calibration?

You know, stranger things have happened! Even in Texas [smiley=shocked2.gif]

MAVERICK,

I wish I could get the weight of mine down that low - probably would run a little quicker.
One hundred pounds less to push down the road has got to be better.

From H-D Specifications Sheet:
 ------------------------------------------------
DIMENSIONS   U.S. UNITS
Length   96.9 in.

Seat Height

Laden(1)   25.9 in.

Unladen   26.9 in.

Ground Clearance   4.2 in.

Rake Steering Head/Trail   26.0º / 6.2 in.

Wheelbase   63.5 in.

Fuel Capacity(2)   5.0 gals.

Oil Capacity   4.0 qts.

Weight

[bgcolor=Yellow]Dry Weight   808.0 lbs.[/bgcolor]

Running Order   N/A
--------------------------------------------------------------

I'm guessing that with a full tank of fuel and all the other fluids, we are over 850 lbs.

(I also assume that was a typo in the original post)    [smiley=laugh.gif]

Thanks for the learning GRC. You engineers always had a head for statistics. So the bike weighs more than I suspected.Ok you get my point. 1/2 ton rolling down the highway. Factory speedos are not that accurate. STOCK SEEG COOL WEATHER ,TAILWIND, LIGHT RIDER   120MPH ON A GOOD DAY  THATS MY GUESS  [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=shocked2.gif]

BESIDES IF YOUR GOING THAT FAST ANYWAY THE COPS MIGHT PULL YOU OVER CAUSE THEIR THINKIN THAT YOU REALLY DID STEAL IT.  [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=shocked2.gif]

Come to Maggie valley for the next Gatherin'...you will be sure to be able to test your theory.

I was at 118 at one point, this would be about 115 on a GPS for my bike.  I had throttle left and weigh over 250 (unfortunately).  The bike could go faster than I wanted to go.  Oh, and doin' 115, I could not catch up to some of the riders in front of me including the newly engaged HD2003 on a stock SEEG and SE06 on a hotrod Lowrider.

As I've gotten older and more conservative, I've noticed that the top speed of any of my vehicles has decreased.  Every bike I've owned in the past 39 years has experienced many blasts up to maximum speed, but so far 110 mph is all I've seen on the SEEG.  Part of that is the fact that I'm still getting used to the handling, which seems a little spooky at anything over 100 compared to my previous rides.  The other is probably the aforementioned age and conservatism, as well as the desire to stay out of jail.  I'm sure I'll eventually try the ol' Cherry out, when the conditions are right.

I would entertain buying SE06 a red SEEG.
How much?
I have to remember though, she will not be happy till it's faster than mine!
