Trade or sell a FLHRSE4 for FLHTCSE2 ????
« on: August 02, 2008, 10:09:27 PM »

OK maybe this is just an exercise in ridiculousness???? But I love the orange and black paint scheme... I am also wondering if a 103 might just be better than my 110?? Any issues I should know about the FLHCSE2? What is this bike worth? It is very clean and only has a bit over 5K on it. My bike has 16K on it already.... so I am not sure what I could get for my bike .... dealer will only give me low blue book (19800) - the hell with that!!! Any comments or thoughts about doing this is appreciated!!!

Well there are no black and orange FLHTCSE2 2005 only FLHTCSE from 2004.   Make sure of what you are buying is all I can tell you.

1) Orange / Black 2004       2) Black / Blue 2004

1) Cherry / DK Cherry 2005,         2)Yellow / Silver 2005               3) DK Green / Teal 2005

Can't say I blame you thus far with the way your thinking.   Love the 04 and the 05.   HD hasn't done a lot to help those with 110's and all the problems.

I just dont understand why people buy into the hand-wringing over the 110. Some of them leak. You take it in and get it fixed. Big deal.

Harry has steered you right on the year for the orange and black.....an 04.  The 103" motor hasn't had the issues that the 110" has in regards to heat issues or leaks.  I think the challenge is going to be finding somebody that will trade their SEEG. :nixweiss:

This depends on how many times you went down the road.  I agree it leaks get it fixed once even maybe twice, but beyond that if you were a victim I think you have earned the priviledge of bitching about it, but the dead horse beating I have to agree with is and has gotten old.

I was one of the first people on the site to have the leak, I believe I was the first to have the 2nd leak and the compression releases go bad, then a third time then a 4th time with a replacement only of the rear jugg.    It is not wringing of the hands when it happens over an over.   Its bullchit, not that I am crying over it, I finally decided to have it fixed on my own since the moco refused to pull their heads out of the sand and take care of the issue the right way.

It is at a dealer and I may be have been wrong about the year I will double check. I do not think I am beating a dead horse, but I have had the leak, now I am having starter issues, and then there is the recalls..... I still have 16k on the bike with all the shop time ... I did not spend this kind of money to have to feel rushed to finish my shovel head so I have a back up bike to ride. ;)

Went to the shop it was gone --- so I could not verify the year... it was/is a consignment bike and they guy wanted $25K for it... not really gonna work for me

the motor company did a great job on the 04-05 103's. I just found an orange/black locally and am so excited that i did.  now the b/b has a mate. It's a great bike with a great motor.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but if your main issue is the lack of reliability of your current ride then you need to be aware that the earlier models aren't exactly paragons of reliability either.  Yes the 103's don't have the oil leak or ACR issues of the 110's, but they do have their own issues.  Things like cam chain tensioners that either need to be checked on a regular basis or changed out for gear drives comes to mind immediately.  Get the compensator nut checked out also, as many came loose on the earlier 103's.  There were also many paint and chrome issues on the earlier bikes that you should be aware of when checking out a SEEG or SEEG2.

If you like the RK but are just unhappy with the 110, you may want to get some prices to do the mods some of the other folks have done with aftermarket cylinders.  Considering what you stand to lose selling the bike, a few thousand spent on the engine starts to look like a bargain.  Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.
