MC Electrics...
« on: August 03, 2008, 06:44:12 PM »

Not for my CVO, but I need a hand!

I changed out the hand guards on my KLR to ones with integrated turn signals...  figured it would be plug and play - not so.  I get one click, the light goes on and then out, the rear stays lit.

I get 10.5 volts out of the turn signal wires (source from the relay)

I get 7-8 ohms resistance on the old turn signal, I get 3 ohms on the new ones.

Figure I need a resistor, so I went to Radio Shack and got what I thought was right, but I tried a range of different ranges - no joy.

Any suggestions?

Get a load equilizer and wire it into the turn signals. The new signals do not draw enough current.

Think that is what I found out - bulb is a normal filament type, just not as large as the stock one.

Going to hit radio shack for a 20 watt 8 ohm resistor which is about what they are using in the load balancers...if that doesn't work then I punt and order the load balancer.  Found then for $5.95 each on-line.

Appreciate your input!
