Super Trapp SE-Quieter Is Good!
« on: August 03, 2008, 08:29:04 PM »

After all these years of putting up with loud exhausts (because that's what Harley guys do, right?) I installed the Super Trapp SE's 2 weeks ago.  I haven't remapped yet, but I plan to dyno next month at my 5,000 mile service.  I notice no discernible difference in performance.  I have the SERT, SE air filter on my 2008 FLHTCUSE3.  I had Vance and Hines slash cuts installed when I picked the bike up new and it had terrific dyno numbers.  But after 3 months of riding I decided it was just too damn loud. Couldn't hear the radio.  My wife complained, etc. etc.  I'd been complaining about my last bike as well (04 RKC)

I am so satisfied.  I notice no drop in performance.  Mileage hasn't changed.  They're still louder than stock and perform better than stock.  But they are so quiet compared to any other after market slip ons I've used or heard on other bikes.  They advertise 3db over stock and I believe it.  The sound is better than stock.  I'll describe it as a low bass rumble that cracks when you get on it.

I always wear ear plugs.  They block out the road frequency noise.  Now I know how good the radio really works at high speed.  And the ride is so comfortable.  I had no idea how much the loud pipes detracted from my rides (even with ear plugs).  Yesterday I went out for a morning ride of 100+ miles.  It was just so darn pleasant.  Overall, I rate this change a 10.
