Recall: For FLH and FLT cracked fuel filter shell
« on: August 04, 2008, 09:57:36 PM »

Got home from work tonight and found what I thought was the 110" recall recall notice letter. Opened it up and found it was not head leakage problem.  Instead its a notice for FLH and FLT (including CVO) for "....may experience a cracking of the fuel filter shell leading to a loss of fuel pressure......"

What's with that?  Anyone aware of this recall?

How serious is this?  I guess if the fuel filter shell cracks then gas could escape and ignite (not good). Or gas won't get to the combustion chamber (bad thing to happen if you're 100 miles from anywhere in Wyoming).

Thanks.  I found the link while leafing thru my "unread posts" about 5 minutes after I'd already posted.  Interesting information here.

I was on a ride a couple of weeks ago with a couple of buddies when one riding a 08 duracell started having problems with his bike. It was like the bike was starved for fuel, luckily we were only a few miles from home and he was able to limp home. I was in to see the dealer for my 1k checkup this past weekend and they told me about this recall which as it turns out was what happened to my freind's bike. The dealer had a list of bikes they had sold which would fall under this recall, forunately mine was not one of them being made later in 08.
