There is a moral here
« on: August 05, 2008, 12:53:35 PM »

A friend once asked me why I keep buying Harley's when the hp to $$ % is so low. Although the SEUC's are flashy and definitely not dull, this might have made a nice analogy.

        THERE IS A MORAL HERE!
A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by.
The jet jockey decided to show off.

The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly
Went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb. He then finished
With a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot came
alongside the C-130 and asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!'
The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130
Pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?'

Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What the heck did you do?'
The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked
To the back, went to the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a
Cinnamon bun.'

When you are young & foolish - speed & flash may seem a good thing !!!

When you get older & smarter - comfort & dull is not such a bad thing !!!

OK, that analogy might work if you want to compare apples to oranges (ie. Ultra to a Hayabusa).  How about when you compare apples to apples, like an Ultra to a BMW K1200 or a Honda Goldwing?

Low tech, low performance, low quality, and high price equals sales leadership.  Totally amazing, and one more example of marketing turning a sow's ear into a silk purse.  I can't say to much 'cause I own one also, but it does make me scratch my head every now and then.

HeHe, but at least it's a Flame job!!! And I told ya Mike, they didn't come in black. I won't get green either, so what's left? Good thing I like blue. I can live with that to get the almost last, best model, of one of the best bikes they ever built. And worst case, there's always www.paintbygene.com ! ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

Great story!

Whenever a sport bike rider comes up along side of me and does "tricks", I tap my feet to the tunes on the stereo, and take a sip out of my water bottle, then "offer" him a drink.

It works best somewhere after mile 300+ on a deserted highway.
