Glove Box Speakers
« on: August 06, 2008, 04:59:23 PM »

I'm considering making better use of the space (who puts gloves in the glove box?) and installing some additional speakers in my lowers.

There a number of different manufacturers and wondered what your thoughts are on the best?

Has anyone used HOG Tunes for this application?
      http://www.hogtunes.com/FLSK.html

They have a set specifically designed for SE's, which interests me.

Thanking you in advance for your opinions.

Grizz
I dont have them but Porthole has them on his bike, not sure what your looking to acheive or spend, but I rode his bike last year in MV, and did not think the upgrade was that much better at speed. Sorry Duane.
Good luck in whatever you do.  :2vrolijk_21:

You "NEED" the Hawg Wired setup.  Info is all over this site. Contact Jim    HDDUDE     .

If your going to put that much $$$$ out might as well put a little more out and go Hawg Wired instead.

I converted my Ultra speakers to Hogtunes last year thinking they would be comparable... they are better than stock but a step down from HW.

Now I'm going to end up forking out more down the road, should have just spent the extra money in the first place instead of twice!

PM Jim!

FWIW,  I have the HW 120 amp and their CX speakers and have more sound than I need (2 speakers only in the fairing).

I bought the hogtunes (front and rear speakers) recently and I am happy with the sound. Much louder and clearer than stock.  One interesting thing I have discovered is the sound quality is much better coming from my ipod than from the cd or radio.  I have thought of making the tourpak detachable and only having the speakers in the upper and lower fairings this would require an amp if so I think if I do then I would go with hawg-wired every thread I have read everyone highly recommends hd-dude.  I went to the hawgwired website but it confused me so I will contact hddude if I make the change.

One note the back speakers really do not produce that much sound if you fade to back the sound is low the majority of the sound comes from the front anyway (maybe there is an adjustment I am not aware of) and if a passenger is on the bike most of the sound in the back is blocked by the rider so my thought was to only run the four speakers upfront.

You need to adjust your levels on the radio... don't remeber how, ine has crapped out!

There should be good sound comming from the rear as well.

I noticed this as well the other day. I have been looking all over the site to see if it was me or if it something else. This site really does have a wealth of information.
As Murphy said, there is an adjustment (fade). I faded to the rear speakers with a BSR sitting back there and the sound was minimal. I can only speak for myself, but the majority of the sound does come from the front speakers. My only problem is with the (now non working) Bluetooth and soon to be installed HID lights, there is no more room under the fairing for an amplifier.

Grizzly,

The only thing I don't like about the hogtunes setup is with there configuration; our factory amplifier runs the front & rear speakers, and HOGTUNES amp powers the new fairing lower speakers. So basically all you are gaining above stock are speakers in the lowers powered by their amp with not much improvement in the four existing channels from an amplification perspective. Also with their setup it makes no sense to make the tour pak detachable because their setup is dependent on the amp mounted below the tour pak to power four of their upgraded speakers. ANYWAY, I AM A HAWG WIRED GUY!

Tend to agree Dave. Without being able to fade the stock radio you can't get any real effect of the lower speakers.
As for the rear, the driver can't hear it anyway much above 20 mph for the same reason.
