Upgrading TMax firmware from ver 4.4 to 4.8
« on: August 07, 2008, 09:31:10 AM »

I've read a couple of posts regarding folks pros and cons of the TMAX and AT.  I've had mine on since 12/06 (Gen 1) without any issues (yet).  I have a not modified my bike to much so I think thats a reason I have not had any issues.

My question is I tried to upgrade the ECM's firmware from 4.4 to 4.8 and receiced an message to contact Zippers due to the fact that my unit is to old (Gen 1).

Its gonna cost $95 to upgrade to Gen 2, and I wondered if I would get any additional functionality out of upgrading.  I added AT back in 9/07 so I need to check what version of AT that I have.

THanks!

if sticking with the bike and build you have now, keep what works good for ya. if you must upgrade, there is a long list of improvements since gen1. well worth the money.

just one example that i use all the time, is the head temp alarm. you can set from 250f and up. when light comes on, i know to get moving and let the used parts bike cool off. mine is set at 320f. go to thunder-heart website and grab the latest software download, give the GUI a look.

I thought mine had that capability as well, along with the voltmeter alert that if your voltage was under X volts your light would come on. I check for upgrades about every 6 months and go out and upgrade the ECM.  Thanks for the info!

hehe, i was still trying to figure how you got a gen 1 to update past 3.8  had to send several back for gen 2 to go beyond 3.8. IIRC, it was 3.something anyway.

regardless, the updates really arent needed if your bike is running great. remember what can happen if a  flash goes bad!

shiny side up!
