We pick up the wife's FLHRSE3 tomorrow from the 906 program. We will see if it helps. 4th set of head gaskets. I still think we got screwed on the head change out. How many times can the cylinder studs be torqued without issues?

 :pumpkin:
Brad

Good question Brad, I'm with Don about the studs. But when they had mine off 3 times before I did the motor, I got new cases (with my numbers), not just studs. I know that's radical, but if I'm starting with a new performance motor, last thing I needed to think about was studs pulling! But I'd change the studs after this many times apart. Especially with the history of these engines to date! ;)

had two head gasket failures in the first 5500 miles.  I kind of attribute the second one two the quality of the service tech performing the first repair, but I am not sure.  Mike's famous in Groton did the repair twice and the upgrade last week.

Anyone know what all is included in the 'Top End Gasket Kit' p/n 17349-07 which is specified in both 0905 & 0906 product programs?  Wonder if the new 'square' base seals p/n 11907 is included.  Don't know if they are supposed to pull the jugs and replace base seals even if the cylinders themselves are not being replaced.  I would think they should since this upgrade was made to production on April 29, 2008, as per TT370.

Anyone know if the 110 cylinders are available or on backorder?  I've asked my shop to order the cylinders just in case the liners have moved.  Don't want to be torn down and waiting on a backordered part.

Found answers to my question from dealer.  Cylinders are available but cannot be ordered under warranty until they inspect for liner movement.  If required they can overnight them.

Can anyone explain the difference?

Looks to me that they did not use the 'new' top end gasket kit which includes the 'B' version cyl head gasket.  But they did spec those cyl head gaskets seperately so you're good there.  They did replace your cylinders including new pistons & rings - good.  Since the RKs don't get the new heads looks like only thing you did not get from the 0906 program would be the new ACRs and the new 'square' base seals.

Thanx for the clarification. The ACR parts are in, I'll have them do it later this year. On the SERK there was never a problem. Much different on my '08 SEUC, where I had several incidents with the bike "puffing" through the air filter when trying to start. That bike is gone, anyway.

Ride safely,

Yeah I've only had two problems so far.

Cruise control was as reliable as a crackhead & the horrible startup sound.

I hope when I get my ride back both are addressed.

The new heads are being picked up from Wolverine to be ported today.

I'll see your cruise control and horrible startup (with puff through the A/C), and raise you a motor, a split crankcase casting, a dropped valve guide, two oil pressure switches, a rain gauge, a rain gauge sensor, a front brake light switch, a fork leak, a blown rear gasket......

Just got letter in mail on 0906 fix, bike scheduled for 8/27 upgrade.  Have stage 1 ac, super sert, bub7 true duals and bike has been dynoed.  Will bike have to be dynoed again after this fix?
