Help with a OEM Part number
« on: August 11, 2008, 10:16:25 PM »

Any Idea what this part is part no 127 004-0?
This is what came up after I did a Diagnostic on my bike. My mechanic says the part doesn't exist..

How did you do a "diagnostic"? If it was what Harley calls the "WOW" test, a self diagnostic test where you hold the reset button down while turning on the key, then four options appear. From memory they are: S, SP, T, M. Each one will have different error codes, if any are present, then list the "p/n" for that module. It is very easy to misread the digits. A "b" could look like a "6". I'd double check it and tell us what the numbers are. From there someone here can help.

The nomenclature isn't correct for a part number.  Closest first choice would be moving the dash over to make it 12700-40.  The number doesn't show as active right now plus it would be a part number created in 1940.  So not likely.

Don is correct. That would be a 1940 part number. But the only difference would be is they used a different numbering system back in the day!!!!! So the number you are looking at is NFG!!!!!!!!

You said it in one of your earlier posts. Thundermax. There was one for sale on the site just a few days ago. It was the AT model. I think he wanted $350.00 for the unit!

Hell I for got to ask you what mods have you done to your bike?

I have a stock ECM but I am not sure if I want to get rid of it. I do have a few Thundermax's in the garage. I think I can make you a deal on one.

OK here's the latest. IN 2005 Harley had alot of problems with the ECM in the Screamin Eagles. I had one of the first, which is an 05 they have updated the ECM a few times (05A, 05B etc.) the dealership has just installed a 05C in the bike and ordered me a new race tuner at no charge. This item should have been recalled.
Thanks everyone for your help. Dave
