Got the LOOK from a Grizzly when I fired up the CVO Ultra
« on: August 12, 2008, 12:05:22 AM »

Took a couple of days for a Little home state tour and saw 4 grizzly bears in three miles on Many Glacier road in Glacier Park MT.  The two here were yearling cubs playing and feeding.  They were in and out of sight til I fired up the SE Ultra with the D&D 2-1s and one stood up to give us the stare.  They were only about 50 yards from the road.  I think that one was a Harley fan.

Those pics were all taken with a pocket camera, OLYMPUS Stylus 600, 6 megapixal.  The bears and the bike pics were setting still.  Bears in the rain and quick so they are not as sharp, but since we've been to Glacier quite often the scenic ones were all on the fly at about 30-35 mph.  It does OK for a $160. on sale camera.  Not much zoom capabilty though and it has so many settings I don't take time to set it for separate shots.  I usually just leave it set for landscape unless we have a lot of time.

These are Glacier photos on an old 2 MP Nikon pocket ($100) camera on a previous trip in Jun 2005.  That camera broke from vibration of bike trips.  Lasted 3 years though so it was worth the hundred bucks.

More pics with the Olympus from Bear Tooth and around MT:

Am I allowed to post this many pictures?  Sorry but I really love the scenery in this state.  That's why I stayed when I got sent here by the Air Force in 88.
