horn
« on: August 15, 2008, 04:38:34 PM »

Can anyone tell me if the horn button can be reversed, so the the top portion is active? The reason for this is my left thumb has very limited mobility. It would be much quicker for me if the horn button can be turned upside down.KB

I got some advice from my brother about the horn. And I quote, With all that power, F--- that horn, kick the throttle, fly by them and flip them off.

read this question before going for a ride this evening.  Looked at button while riding and wondered what the answer is.  Couldn't help but think, what problem are you solving with that aggravation?  Looked like it should fit upside down but I tried reaching top of button and it wasn't comfortable.

Maybe you could set up a horn button down on the side of your left foot board so you would then be able to tap it with your heel. Maybe? ???

It is very uncomfortable and sometimes painfull for me to use my left thumb. Try to push the horn button with a finger and I think you you will see what I mean. KB

now it is clear to me!  How's your voice?  You can likely yell as loud as the horn.  Sorry about the thumb, I'm glad it doesn't keep you from riding.

KB, as someone with a similar problem on the other hand I can sympathize with your situation.  I had a great deal of difficulty with the turn signals after running my thumb through a power saw (turns out that isn't a good way to trim your nails), since the thumb is now shorter and has restricted movement.  My answer was to add a simple extension to allow my shorter thumb to reach the button without the jerkies involved in moving my entire throttle hand.  Perhaps something similar could be done to your horn button.  I didn't take the housing apart on the clutch side to look at the mounting of the horn buttom, but assuming it is similar in construction to the other switches I'm thinking a simple remove, flip, and reinstall isn't going to work due to the way the mounting bracket is made.

Jerry

btw, my homemade extension was bent out of a piece of heavy duty clothes hanger wire.

Don't forget to add the loud ass air horns to the bike to make the trouble of using the horn button worth while.lol The women with the cell phone to there ear and not paying attention to there driving, will drop the phone and damn near go in the ditch when you hit that horn. Probably pee a little too.LMAO

I am just here to bring you laughter and joy.lol  :huepfenjump3:
