Detachables for FXR3

Hey FXR experts, does HD make a deatachable rack for these bikes? If we have the FXR2/3/4 Anniversary GTG anywhere but NYC next year, I'll need to get my T-Bag (SAC) on back there. I guess I can use the back seat, but Binx might wanna come along too. And no way I'm not bringing my BLUE3 to a CVO FXR Anniv. Celebration!!! ;)

TIA gang! :2vrolijk_21:

Hey FXR experts, does HD make a deatachable rack for these bikes?

I think about this "accessory" alot...and the short answer is no, there is not one......I guess the idea of "detachable" was not in the minds of the "accessory engineers" back in the 80's and 90's at least for the FXR platformed bikes...

But you can within about 15 minutes remove your Sissybar railing and put a higher one in with a "rack" combo" here are the part numbers if so interested:

52655-84    Low Upright Medallion Style Sissy Bar        $85.00
52650-96    XL1200 Custom Low Upright Backrest Pad  $58.00
53711-96A  Four Bar Luggage Rack                          $106.00

whether you like this style or not is your personal choice of course.....but this will allow you to attach a T~Bag, here are a couple of photos that might give you some idea viewing the parts listed above, might make it easier for you to decide....:

Regards,

Tim

This happens to be one of my favorite photos of this bike so far, the sky was the right "tint" to allow me to capture the deep candy arresting red that this bike has....and I like the angle.....but this photo was taken when I was running the 21" wheel and tire I am not running of course the 19" front wheel and tire.

Thanks Tim. Don'tcha have to remove the strut bolts to change the sideplates? Was hoping for an easier on/off rack without messing with the sissy bar. Does that rack remove from that sissy bar? I'd live with the different bar if the rack comes off. Not sure about having to change sissy bars though. What else do we have out there? :confused5:

Have noticed that that color is very tempermental for photography.  Rarely does a photo show that color for what it truly is.  That is a great photo of one stud of a little bike.  I also actually quite like that taller sissy bar and rack too.  Nice line for the bike.

I think that attaches to the inside of the sideplates.  Well, I'm sure Tim will confirm. :2vrolijk_21:

OK, then you just remove the sissy bar from the sideplate? I'll make it more complicated then. ;D

I'll probably be using this round sissy bar with the plain pad. ;)

There are two button head screws on each side of the sideplate holding the sissy bar in.  The rack that Tim was showing is either part of the sissy bar, or mounts to the inside of the sideplates with the same/longer screws.  Either way, pretty sure you don't have to remove the sideplates.  That would be a PITA.

It's from Khrome Werks. Most bike shops can get it. Maybe Jenni can too. ;)

http://www.khromewerks.com/

You'll have to go to Products, then Sissy Bars to get to it. The link doesn't take you to that page, just the Home Page.

Ooo! If that rack is removable, then that could change everything! ;)

[NOTE: Please remember that putting your curser next to the paper clip icon below the photo will allow you to enlarge the photo plus save it to your computer if you desire] and in order to see the writing I did it will be ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT and once you have "opened" the file to see the enlarged photo continue to kit your magnifying option to make it larger to read the "white print"...sorry it's so small!!!:

In this photo you will see 3 of the 4 bolts you loosen and tighten to slip out the sissybar rail of your choice, ie: for the mini rail of the FXR2 or the short rail for the FXR3 & FXR4 or this rail to use for a more comfortable passenger sissybar back rest along with the hauling of a T~BAG should you want it to sit on the seat or the rack as provided in
the photo.

geez you GUYS ARE FAST LOL

Regards,

Tim

aasd

That's a great shot Tim. Can that rack be removed from the sideplates too, or is it welded? Does the stock sissy bar plug into the same sideplates? Changing sissy bars wouldn't be too bad after all then. :2vrolijk_21:

Stock setup . . .

Thanks for the pic Brian. Are they the same sideplates as Tim's? Would I just need the taller sissy bar with rack setup. Just interchange the 2? ;)
