something a "non mechanic" could do..or is it "safer" for me to pay HD for a 30 minute ??? repair?  As far as slippage...hitting the throttle hard and nothing slips at all. Could I have screwed up that spring doing a few burnouts without messing up the clutch plates?? Live and learn, but it was a helluva lot of fun before I replaced my tires. I also practice a fair amount with cones doing the figure 8's scraping both ways and really working (constantly feathering) the clutch. Thanks in advance, I appreciate all the help from our forum. You'd ruin disks before you'd hurt the spring.  Adjusting the clutch is a simple chore.  Basic hand tools and basic task.  Don't let that one worry you.

You say adjusting the clutch is a simple chore...I thought there was no adjustment on the hydraulic clutch?  Dean

No adjustment on the hydro's, Don was refering to the cable clutch. There is also only the one diaphram spring, not springs. Not likely to wear out at 15K miles.
