What is the thoughts on the removal of baffles from vance and hines oval slip ons.Does it give any adverse effects to the running of the bike.

It would be like an open pipe. I think it would run really crappy! I would not do it.

Through my differents exchanges with V&H about the modifications for ovals, ( down the noise's level )
never, they've agreed one modification.

I think the ovals are more efficient with the original configuration.
All modifications are bad idea. IMHO

Only a guru would be able to modify these.

I have had the dealer take the baffles out and i am getting a nice loud noise just what i wanted.I presume that because the dealer suggested taking them out there will be no adverse affects from it?

yes i would recommend putting ur baffles back in, loud pipes have a great sound if ur pottering around but if ur gonna ride a long distance at speed i dont think u wanna listen to them all day, if u wear ear plugs as many people do if rather defeats the object.
generally at all bike events i have attended this year there has been a large police presence!

At faak last year there was noise controls and many stolen bikes
at the super rally denmark in may police were confiscating knives (blades over 6cm 390€fine) bike checks and ramdom breathaliser
in austria throughout the year i has seen many vehicle controls this year, they wait just after the entry road to the autobahn or on the slip road leading to the gas stations, initially to control if u have paid the autobahn charge but while u r stopped a bike check
in england here was an over the top police presence at the bull dog bash.
i have not been over to italy this year so i cant comment there.

but as i say in most european countries police r getting more strict on noisey pipes and enforcing controls
i for one am fedup with being stopped at each event this year and i have very quiet just above european standard issue pipes noise level.
Its even worse for the back patch guys who also have to wait inline to be photographed on arrival

John, first of all pull the baffles out and you will see that if you have any miles at all on your bike, you likely have no baffle material in there anyway.

I bought a set of used slip on's and decided to replace the baffle material to make them new, because really, that is the only difference between new pipes and old if they have no scratches.

When I pulled the baffles out, two screws, real easy to do, all the material was matted up in about two inches at the back!

I called V & H and they sent me new baffle material for an outragous price of (I'm joking of course) $6.95 .ea

I wrapped the baffles in accordance with what the tech told me to do.

My 110 blew most of the insulation out after about 20 miles and melted the kevlar wrapping.

I ordered some new material again and this time put a hose clamp around the material at the front of the baffle to keep the velocity from pushing it to the back...no luck!

I would challange anyone who has V&H slip ons to take out the two screws and check your baffle material...

For those of you advising against taking out the baffles, you may find you don't much of baffle yourself.

I took the pipes off...they're for sale if anyone wants to buy them. The 110 velocity is way too much and they're really loud when all insulation is gone.

Just my two cents...

Why don'tcha just send your stock mufflers to these guys and let them rebuild them for ya. Tuned mufflers will make the motor run better than homemade shadetree mods will IMO! ;)
