Product Program 0905
« on: August 17, 2008, 10:42:55 AM »

I just got a notification of this 0905 program. Does this mean they have to take off the heads to perform the "upgrade" that they are talking about.  Does anyone else have this notification?  It mentions the 07 and 08 Screaming Eagle Ultra models.  ;) ;) :o :o :o :confused5: :confused5: :confused5:

In this thread: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=25247.255 they talk about Product Program 0905.

In this thread: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=26234.45 they talk about Product Program 0906.

From what I've read they both seem to be about the same thing.  Someone else more knowledgeable on them can elaborate on the differences of the two programs.

I have the letter about the fuel filter replacement recall, but I don't see a program number on it.

Hopefully you'll have more information soon.

If you got notification for 0905, yes, they will have to take the heads off, because they are going to replace them with new ones that have the improved valve guides.  Call your stealer, if that's where you're going to take it in, and tell them about the notification and find out if they have the kits in yet.  If not, they will order based on your VIN, if they do, make an appointment if you desire to have the work done.  MoCo is estimating 6 hours to do the job.  Good luck.

The new style guides are longer than the originals, so the allowable valve lift is reduced to prevent contact between the valve spring retainers and the oil seals on the top of the guides.  If you want to install a cam with a valve lift of more than .596", you will just have to modify the guides and/or retainers.
