Ness Big Sucker
« on: August 17, 2008, 11:39:21 PM »

When I purchased the bike I had RD TD and SERT put on it. I also up graded the air breather to a SE. I think it is called a high flow, not to sure though. I have all the parts from the original breather. Also have the original 110 cover on it as well.

Will the Ness Big Sucker work just as good or does the one I have good enough.

I changed mine to a Ness Big Sucker appox. 800 miles ago, it seems to respond a little quickier, We rode the Dragon, Hellbender, Blueridge Pwky then back across Hwy 441 into Gatlinburg and it worked great, No problems, Like i said it seem to respond a little quickier coming out of the curves.

lzyboy, I don't think you will have to do anything since you already have the high flow airbreather on it. If you are doing the install, make sure you have a torque wrench and torque to there spec's, the banjo bolts are hollow and easy to break if you just use a rachet. To answer your question no i did not have to do anything after install, i put on V&H True Dual Big Shots and PCIII Had it mapped, Then later removed V&H baffels and installed BIG CITY THUNDER'S QC BAFFELS this made the bike run a little rich, which cooled it off a bit, but man what top end it had, when i installed the Big Sucker it leaned it back out some, Fuel milage came back up but has better throttle response. If i were you install the Big Sucker and ride and see how it does.

GOOD LUCK!!!

thanks SERK3,
I took a look today and noticed the only oval shape I have deals with the cover (110 Scream'n Eagle). Everything else is circle. I will make my decision at the end of the month. I probably will switch to a K&N filter instead. I'll wait and see.

Which one , Ness Big Sucker or K & N flows the most air........anyone know which one is better? Guess you could switch to the S&S true tuned single bore intake ....has two air filters..must flow more air. :nixweiss:

When i changed mine from the Screamin Eagle to the Ness i could not tell a whiole lot of difference except the ness has a K&N air filter, I really think all you need to do is change the air filter to a K&N and get close to the same results, If not the same.

By the way KingDog, Like your bike i have the same one. You going to Myrtle Beach Fall Rally? We are leaving Knoxville Tues. am the 30th, and returning Sun. the 5th.

Plan on going, but bike is in for the recall, tires and service. Also have heads and cylinders diamond cut while it's down. Hope it ready in time. If so maybe I could ride down with you guys.

I could be mistaken so don't hold me to this but I could swear that the 08's do not have the same SE AC setup like the 07's do. It's on this site somewhere about the differences (in the SERK section maybe). The Big Sucker is equal to the 07 setup but the 08's are more like what found on the 96'ers. My 07  AC is completely open in the back and looking at the pics the 08 is enclosed. All I did to mine was toss the stock paper filter and replaced it with a K & N. Do a search on the subject to be sure. Maybe I've had one too many and I'm just imagining the whole thing. If that is the case though, anyone with a 08 will have to replace the entire AC with a open unit.

After doing some searching I found the high flow I have now is just as good. I am going to switch the filter to K & N. Put my money else where right. I tried to buy some stiletto spike caps for the front axle but they did not fit (return). Also saw the air covers with the compass skulls. Going in that direction right now... Thanks everyone

If you want to go the other way on the front end, you can get a good stealth look with a hidden Axle and BAH fork cap setup. I got mine from Puzzled on this site. You can see better pictures on the thread below, last 4-5 pages.
