Need new seat for 2007 CVO Ultra
« on: August 18, 2008, 09:47:32 PM »

My bike got ran into while I was at Sturgis this year causing about $7000.00 damage.  The side of my seat was torn during the accident.  My dealer says they are having a hard time finding a matching seat.  I am not real thrilled about receiving a seat that does not match the back rest or trunk.  Has anyone else tried to replace an 07 CVO ultra seat recently?

Have you thought about Corbin? I still have my original and just now realized that with the new tank they'll be harder to come by.

I have a Corbin that matches the OEM ostrich inlay.  My driver backrest has the braid to match the tourpak and of course it is heated.  It took a while to break in - now I Love it!  Hard 10 mentioned on another post about athe driver backrest having chrome on the back, mine is black on the bike but I would look at that option if I were buying another seat.

They are a little pricey (HA! Like I would find a suggestion on this site that wasn't) I think it was close to $1000.00 with shipping but I would buy another one.  I talked with Pepper at Corbin when I bought mine he was easy to work with.

It looks like the same seat but different piping. Yours is silver right? If I were to go Corbin new again, I would look hard at that chrome backrest. The stock HD seat is probably going to be hard to find as it was only made for two years and was inferior to Corbin's.

Just a shot in the dark but is it possible to adapt the seat from 07 to 08 ultra?

I'm sure anything is possible. The '08's have the new 6 gallon tank however.

Did anyone notice how early I logged on this morning? I'm at the Charlotte airport waiting for my father.

Nope... don't even think about it.  The 08's mount different.  The tang was switched between the 07 and 08's.

We have tried and it isn't worth the effort...

I've been a long time Corbin user but not really impressed with their latest offerings.  Looking a the Danny Gray BigSeat with Backrest, any one tried one of these?

Inferior is right the front on mine would come up when I sat on it and the Corbin does not move because it has a much better pan (stiffer) than stock. The heat is much more even on the Corbin also

Well I decided after this thread to order the chrome backrest plate from corbin.  It should be here in 2 days.  Looks pretty simple to put on just has 2 screws.

A BIG THANKS to AJ for helping contribute to my OCD! :2vrolijk_21:

I am also sending my backrest back to Corbin to have the Braid sewn around the top of the backrest - this was not done when I bought the seat last year.  They are doing this at no charge and paying for the shipping both ways - this the way a company should do business and it makes me feel even more sound in my decision to buy a Corbin seat!

I may have the chrome backrest plate before UPS comes to pickup the backrest if not the I should get the backrest back for the seat within a week.  Either way I will post pics once I have them.
