Just called my MSRP dealer in Wichita Falls and put a deposit down on this...



It is due sometime in the last quarter of 2008, so I have some time to sell my 2008 FXCWC (or trade it in).  I know have a couple of months to plan the mods and have y'all help me spend some more dough.

Top of mind mods...

Tach!!  ( I cannot believe this beautiful bike does not have one standard ???

Congratulations! And who needs a tach? Any gauge other than speed just makes you wonder what is wrong.

Congrats!!!!  That's a sweet looking machine.  Has the Rocker cover on the oil tank.  I like.  :2vrolijk_21:  Have to agree with HD-Dude, a set of 12" apes would look great on that bike.  As far as a tach goes, the only time I look at mine is when the bike's idling.   :P  They're nice to have, but as long as you've been riding, is it really necessary.  Go without one for a while and see if you miss it.  If you do, you can always add later. :)  JMO.

You are probably right Charlie.  I would also have to see if they have the integrated speedo/tach even available for this model.

Relative to the 12" apes, can anyone photoshop some onto the stock photos?

Also, I have not had a chance to hear the stock pipes, as the look like they have changed from previous models.

Don't have photoshop handy to do that, (on the road again and don't have on my work computer), but if you want a quick reference, look at the Cross Bones with the mini-apes on it and that will give you somewhat of an idea of what they would look like on that springer front end.  Yep, definitely have to change the pipes, unless you like it real quiet.  EPA is really cracking down.  Don't know if the pipes on the spinger are close to the ones on the SE Fat Bob, but I got a chance to listen to the Fat Bob at a dealer the other day, and the first thing I thought was, "the pipes got to go!!".  That Red/Black Fat Bob looks suhweet in person.  Too bad they can't put a paint job like that on an Ultra!  Wow!   :2vrolijk_21:

Dealers in DFW are asking from $1K to $3K over.  Un-f******-believable!  I'll go back to Red River where it is always MSRP.  Great folks and well worth the 120 mile trip.

What is with California and Ape Hangers??? I was over in San Diego last week and every other bike was running Ape Hangers. Not just 12 inch but 14+ hangers. Quiet pipes and Ape Hangers. I guess it will be rolling our way in Arizona. :zwtf:

I am on the list for a black/green Springer from the same dealership.  I was first on the list there, but they did not ask for a deposit at all.  I thought that was a little strange.  But, I am new to the waiting game as I just bought my first bike right off the floor.  They estimated the end of the year for delivery.  Just curious, how did the deposit procedure work?

By the way they actually had a black/green one on the floor, but it was already sold.  Very nice.

Only a couple of hundred bucks...I have bought one bike from them and have had service work done there for the last 3 years.  New SM and new salespeople most likely necessitated the deposit, and I am also from out of town.  Great folks who will take care of you, especially Jim W. in service.
