No letter here either, but I called the dealer in Bamberg, gave him my VIN and he ordered the parts.  They'll be put in when I take my SERK in for it's 1000 mile service.

Nothing here either.

Sounds unfair, but what can we do?

Checking through the Vin nÂș on HD's website I got the head gasket replacement, but have received no official letter yet, and my dealer wants to charge me for the ACR's and cylinder base gaskets.....what a disaster!!

I am amazed how many owners here in the UK are unaware of the problem, I was at  a rally here last weekend spoke to a number of CVO owners who were totally unaware of the issues, which does suprise me.

I did however fully inform them so they say they will be contacting their dealer, the more pressure we put on them the better.

Although no letter received as I have said previously bike off the road since May, parts were ordered arrived last week (WRONG PARTS), the fuse is burning!!!

Why has your bike been off the road for so long, Donald, and how come the parts were only ordered last week?  Edinburgh HD or West Coast?

Jim,

It has been off the road due to the amount of oil escaping from the rear pot, which eventually on a longer journey could end up on the rear wheel, (not what you want) so the bike was taken off the road.

The bike is in Edinburgh HD and it has been since May, apparently (and I have no reason to doubt) EHD were in communication with HDUK technical who eventually gave them the fix which included new heads but this part number was not on the UK ordering portal, so therefore could not be ordered.

HDUK were having these parts ordered direct and were then to be dispatched to EHD, well they never materialised, until last week and they were wrong!!

The fuse is burning however and it wont be long till it reaches the explosives.

Not that any dealer is any great shakes, Donald - but if EHD were the last Harley Dealer on the planet, and were giving bikes out free, I'd be riding a Honda. I would not go near them for ANYTHING.  Yours is not the first such "ordering problem" from them in my experience.

Hi all, received my letter today. (Northern Ireland, UK).  I had already contacted my local dealer and he ordered the parts last week.  Heard about the recall here.  It's nice to be one step ahead of the MOCO.  But then we usually are!!!

I learnt about this from my dealer at the end of July and there was a message on my answerphone when I got back from holiday saying to book in for the recall.  Apparently we also get another years warranty on the parts because it is a recall....has anyone else heard that.

Smiler,

Not hear of the extended warranty period, this is news to me.

I do know you have two year to carry out this work free of charge so therefore I presume after this date you are on your own.

I am however in negotiations with HDUK for an extended warranty due to the time my bike has been off the road, (all summer)
