FUEL PUMP WOES...
« on: June 26, 2005, 10:13:50 PM »

So the fuel pump on my SERG is screaming like a pig, so I take it to my local dealer, the service writer comes out and listens too it and says any performance problems? No runs fine, but listen to it, its louder than the radio. Well they wont cover it for noise. WHA?? That was it, started talking to someone else. So I called another dealer and asked them to look at it. I wasnt given any promises but at least they are gonna look at it...

Has any one had this happen to them. I figure its not long before it chits the bed...

was that the southside dealer or the yorktown dealer ?? if it is not working properly (as in making a noise) it is a no brainer and the service writer should not be self diagnoising the problem - its his job to service you - tell em to get it in and look at it and then look it up in a book as to how much noise it shoul dbe producing - zilch is the answer so it is not at spec - therefore warranty - then if they have a problem have them call tech center for the diagnostics they found and follow thru. just my 2cents worth - just so dang easy to have someone blow ya off its pitiful and not how I would handle it. where - made me thirsty sayign that  - gotta go have a MGD  [smiley=drink.gif]

eh ur uh.... jammerx and I are one in the same, tony couldnt remember his password....LOL

Southside, this is the 2nd time with a warranty issue I am getting hassled. I brought it in to have the fuel gage replaced (mind you I did the 10k, 15k, over a "g" 20k plus tires, lights etc everything there I am not a new customer) and was told it was refused. Gage works, but the plastic lense is all cracked. So I ask for the phone number to call and bitch, they give it to me and I call and the guy on the other end says they never had a claim for the gage. WTF???  And imagine they called me and asked me how the service was and I said it was all good, until I called the warranty guy...  So really I think they have lost a customer. Yorktown is cool but owned by the same person. I have an appointment at bayside and will give them a try. I am by no means hard to please. I managed an auto repair shop in NOVA years back and I know its a tough gig, but I know the fuel pump is done, and needs to be replaced. It could be the pick up or the return line, but...

So after over a week with no motor scooter, which really hasnt been a bad thing cause its been blistering hot here... I get the SERG back with a new fuel pump, new front wheel bearing and a state inspection for a total 50 dolla which is my deductable!!!
CAN YOU SAY INSTANT NEW CUSTOMER!!!!!   They (bayside) did me right, by all means. I think I have found a new home. No more fuel pump noise, the wheel bearing was leaking and the state inspection is just one of those things you ought to do!

I honestly  was contemplating switching teams, having the tattoo removed and everything, after 20 years of HD I was ready to ride a Beemer. I was so disgusted. With the fogged gauges, chrome peeling, brakes leaking and wasting away, the seat,  and all the other small BS that just seems to let you down. Just add poor service and and an attitude and well F it, and them (da moco)  Its seemed like the end was near.  I can say that bayside gave the SERG a stay of execution.   The folks who took care of my bike were very cool...

I has a temperature sensor go bad on a 2001 and Superstition HD replacedd it under the emissions warranty and saved me the $50 deductable on the extended warranty.

My experience is that the smaller dealers are "hungry" and are willing to work with a customer with only one caveat, I do not walk in with an attitude of entitlement or know it all.  I have learned to ask leading questions, so no feathers get ruffled.

GLAD YOU ARE OPERATIONAL
