FYI on HEAD RECALL!!!
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:08:43 AM »

:oops:Don't know if this is the appropriate place for this tread but here we go...

Took my bike in for the head recall because the rear ACR was acting up.  At the same time I was putting true duals, sert, high flow, bassani slip ons and dyno.  They had all the parts in so my bike would be done the next day.  Call the dealership to see if the bike is done and they tell me that the rear cylinder needs to be replaced also but they don't have that recall in stock and have to order the cylinder.  So my suggestion is if you are getting the head recall done then maybe you should make sure they have a rear cylinder in stock or don't plan on riding for a couple of weeks.

I was told there was a possibility that both cylinders could need to be replaced depending on tolerances that are to be measured during the head replacement.

If you went to Cycle Connection, "a couple of weeks" is very optimistic.  Its interesting that they took your bike in for ACR's.  I took my recall letter in on Tuesday and they told me they did not have any of the "new" parts and that they had to fax a copy of my recall letter to HD to get a set of the ACR's sent to them.  They assured me that they would call me as soon as they come in.  (I've got a hundred bucks that says that don't happen).  Of course they might like you better than me.  The service manager doesn't even speak to me any more.  He may have seen my customer satisfaction survey. :nixweiss:

I don't mean to bad mouth them but you are right... Very disorganized I don't get how nobody knows anything.  You could always bring your bike over here to our mechanic, he just can't do any HD recalls or HD warranty work.

Not yet.  I was going to start taking my Ultra there, but I sold it and bought the SERK.  I got free service (which is the appropriate value) for the first 15,000 miles, so I have continued to use CC-HD, but as soon as that is up, I will either do it myself or give Mike a try.

That's good to have free service but you can still just come by and have a beer (or 2) sometime.

2 weeks That's Nothing!!!! When I took mine in for the upgraded gasket replacement it took them 5 weeks to get er done. I have been pleased with the operation of the bike since then but I sure had withdrawls when it was in the shop. 8)

I specifically asked the dealer to order cylinders 'just in case' I need them when doing the 905 program.  But moco's response was that we must disassemble and verify the need for new jugs before they'll send them out under warranty.

Guess I could have ordered with understanding that I'd pay for the jugs if not needed or pay return shipping and re-stocking fee but did not go there.  Dealer checked that the jugs are not on any backorder and said the moco would allow him to overnight them in if required.  Even if in tolerence I want the rear jug replaced due to burnt oil on it and doubt it will clean up properly.  Guess we'll have to see what happens when I go in on 9/3/08 for the work.
