Bike down in Galveston
« on: August 21, 2008, 07:24:05 PM »

I met Nige and Jan during their visit here, While I was giving the grand tour, A small red car turned from the far right lane and into my lane to try to make a ILLEGAL U turn.  I had very little time to react. Could not swerve and had no choice but to hit the brakes very hard in an attempt to stop.  Needless to say I hit said car and sailed over to the pavement on the other side.  Nige said I bounce well.  within seconds I had nurses and bystanders trying to keep me down til help arrived.  To keep this short, I seem to be OK, some fairly painful areas, bruises ect ect, but the RG needs some shop time, front end work.  Kind of put a damper on a swell time,  But we managed to salvage it after my the bike was carried away and we went to Willy G's for some liquid pain killer/additude adjuster.  She'll be OK in a few weeks, with some shiny new chrome...

I was afeared you were going to report something like this. Crap. Glad you're not too sore and are able to post. If it hurts a  lot get checked out. Wouldn't be the first time someone got checked out later and something was found that needs fixed. Sounds like your ride's going to be ok. Heal quickly.

Sorry about the crash (especially when you had evening plans with Nige).  Glad you are doing well.

I hope the car had insurance to take care of your bike and the related expenses.

Since you are ok, I guess we need to wish your bike a speedy recovery ;)

Thanks all,  The numbing effects of Jim and Jack, as well as great company from our overseas travelers took care of me last night.  Today I have a real attidude.  But that too will pass as soon as I get the police report and verify HIS insurance.  Which I was told that he had.

Bummer, right in the middle of a great time.

No good time for an event like this, but it sounds like you are OK which is the most important thing and the bike will be able to be repaired.

Speedy recovery on the bumps and bruises. :2vrolijk_21:

The dealer already said it shouldn't be too bad to fix.  Obvious inner and outer fairing, as well as radio, which was a sony and small gages. new windsheild, which hurts the ribs as you fly through it.  No damage to bags, or tank, or trunk
