Well let's look at the poll above, it seems the old white guy is what, just under a 6 to 1 ratio?
Of course this isn't too scientific, there are not too many cradle to grave welfare leeches riding Screamin Eagles. BUT let the dems get in there and we'll all be handing our keys over to those that have not.

Are you suggesting personal responsibility??

While that may not be the intent of the post, I do believe in personal responsibility!  If not me who?

BIGDOG, first you have to define who you mean by US.  If US is the wealthiest 5% of the population, then the Republicans are going to make US even wealthier while reducing and eliminating programs for THEM.  They will also reduce or eliminate government oversight so that US can more easily screw THEM out of what little they have.  If you want more specifics, just study the past 8 years.  If you would like to see instant replay, just push the Republican button in November.

I am with you 100% ,I just want someone from the McCain supporters to explain how there parties polotics will help the the majority of the people. We have given to the top 5% how about the others. So far all I hear are  threats about what they fear will happen if Obama is elected but nothing about how McCain will help the nation if he is elected.

I'm sorry for coming into the rhetoric at this time, but I couldn't resist.
First off, the Dem's gave us the "Great Society", remember LBJ's Welfare Program? We are still trying to reduce the governmental out go to the supposedly needed people of the USA.
In all the years of my life, I can sum up the Republicans and the Democrats.
If you want a war, tax reform and somewhat a balance budget, get a Republican.
If you want a prosperous great society and little to back it, get a Democrat.
IF anyone has questions on what I'm saying, go over the History books for the last 60 plus years.
It's your vote on which direction this country will take, BUT VOTE. :-X

And exactly how many of those do you personally know?  Or have had ANY real contact with at all?  Damn few is my bet..regurgitation is easy, but first hand experience is a different matter entirely.  Elitist?  Look in the mirror...

Obama had far from an idealistic life while growing up...yea, his mom got food stamps, and he got some help with his education.  Good for him, and it enabled her to do what otherwise might have been impossible.  A helping hand, not lifetime support.

Fed or state Gov't is not suppose to Help anyone, You are given a education from age 6 thru 18 provided by the local Gov't in the form of public education. other than that you have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happines. How you use your FREE education is left up to you in a free society.

Some choose to work, some choose to continue to improve, however it is each persons choice. The Gov't is an enabler NOT A PROVIDER. PROGRAM is a Democrat word that is need to redistribute the wealth of those that WORK to "HELP" those that choose NOT to or Refuse to educate themselves to help them selves.

That's why the Democrats are always working to Give you stuff in exchange for your vote because they will TAKE from the rich and give to the poor until their are no rich no more.

If you have used your education you should be FAR better off today than you where last year rather than 8 years ago, If not pehaps you need to stay in school until you get it.

Thats why Vietnam is a good trading partner for the US today? Please!! Try invading Russia, India, China and see what happens. Its easy to bully the little country. Preemptive war was never part of any president's policy before Bush got into office. We should only send our citizens in harm's way, only when our country is attacked.

Amen, bro!

The man who gave Bush the excuse to start the "War on Terror" still remains at large, living in God knows what/where, and we are stuck in a quagmire with no honorable end in sight for the brave Americans who risked their lives (and their family's...that is another sickening story) and limbs to fight an unworkable war...exactly like Vietnam, only in sand instead of jungle.

So you think an investment by the government to help people (like ME) get a better education who cannot otherwise afford it is a BAD thing?  Get your head out of the sand.  The return on that investment is astronomical.

In red:  Barring some asshole Christian Repulican who grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth "downsizing" you because you don't kiss his ass every time he wants you to, but only try and do the right thing, whether it's politically correct or not.

What reality are you living in?  Way the f...k different than mine, I can assure you.

Yeah, the past 8 years have been pretty rough for me.  My business only grew by 22%.  I went from regular production Harleys to $35K Screamin Eagles..... I hate when this happens  :D :D :D

Sure don't want to go backwards, which is what would likely happen if we get Baracko's Excellent Adventure.  Business owners are screwed taxed beyond belief now.  If baracko gets to do what he has himself said that he wants to do, ....... well, we haven't seen nothing yet.

It is pretty scary to think about the major tax increases he has said he will implement during his campaign.  I have been in Real Estate for 10 years.  The housing market is struggling now NOT because of a Republican or a Democrat but because of Greed.  Greed that started with the owner of the home and went all the way to the investors on wall street.  One thing is for sure that if taxes are increased on the Housing Market it will change everything - most Americans will lose a major portion of their net worth if there is a tax on your personal residence.  It has been said that Obama would charge 25% on the gain of a sell of your personal residence. So for all the folks that have worked and paid their mortagages on time, and now own their residences free and clear their net worth would drop 25% the day the tax is implemented.

So if your home is worth $250,000 then you just paid $62,5000 of your net worth to the goverment in taxes.  It goes up from there if your home is worth $500,000 then you just paid $125,000 of your net worth to the goverment.  We all have family members and friends that have WORKED HARD all their life to pay off their home and own a piece of the American Dream and now that dream just got a BIG Reduction of 25%.   BUT where it will hurt the average person is with investors the tax hit is too high for them to sell without exchanging property.  I could not take the proposed tax increase on capital gains of 40% that Obama has talked of - it is now 15%.  What will happen is multifamily properties either won't sell because the tax hit is too high or the money from the sell will be exchanged for another property to avoid paying the tax.  This will drive the value of the property up and the cap rate down and investors will raise rents to offset the increase cost of the property.  Homeowners won't sell or they will sell for a higher price to offset their tax hit.  Rents will go up and the average person will pay for this tax. Rents will rise just like gas now.

Hey I live with a 100% Democrat - my wife.  BUT when I pose the question to her if Obama is elected and the taxes are raised and you have to go back to work because we cannot make it with this tax increase her response is well if it is for the good of our nation to pay down this deficit.  She ain't smiling when she says it and I can guarantee she wont be smiling if she has to go back to work with 2 little babies in daycare - THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR SURE IN MY HOME BUT NOT FOR THE BETTER!

How about the couple that are getting ready to retire, have done everything right - raised their kids put them through school, paid their monthly mortgage and other bills on time for the last 20+ years and have very little debt.  They are doing it right they are going to sell their home DOWNSIZE and live off of their retirement and the appreciation of their home well there house is worth $300,000.  All of the sudden they realize that the $75,000 tax on their home will not allow them to retire unless one of them gets a job to offset this tax.

To make the point very clear - how much do you owe on your residence - what is your home worth. Take 25% of the difference (your money) now and write a check -make it out to US Treasury.

I feel your pain , and it won't be great for a lot of us but the truth is that if we don't raise taxes we have even bigger problems down the road. At some point you have to pay the piper for the debt G Bush has left us, and waiting will not work. You know from your own life you can  spend and spend but at some point have to pay the bill and the time is now. Bush was left with a balanced budget and he pissed it away and then some and the die hard republicans did nothing to put him in check . So we now have to clean up there mess . Greed was the Republican philosophy  for the last 8 years , thank them for the need to raise taxes.

I'm tired of hearing about President Bush, and I don't really care about your opinion of President Bush.... he is not running for re-election.

For those that have not noticed, we have John McCain (Rep) running against Barack Obama (Dem).  Neither of these men are GW Bush.

The information below should help ANYONE decide who will be the best president for these United States.  If you agree with facts below about either candidate, then vote for him in November.  May the best man win.

2008 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE COMPARISON TALKING POINTS ISSUE

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales.  (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
 15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX

Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
 - 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.  New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)  New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Just saw the picture above.  You guys talking about Sarah Palin?  Wicked smart and wicked good politician all while somehow still managing to seemingly always be an actually good person.

Lifetime NRA member.  She beat the incumbent GOP governor in her primary and beat a past Dem governor in her general election to take the seat she now holds in Alaska.  Knew before her son was born the baby would be born trichromosonal 21 (Down's Syndrome) and never considered aborting the pregnancy.  Beauty contest girl in her youth and a tomboy at the same time.  After taking the governor's job in Juneau also did a LOT to restore some confidence in the state after some really messy and wide spread corruption issues within her own party.  Lots of other good stuff about her too.

She's only about 44-45 years old so has time to make a grab for the national stage if she decides to.  Unlike Senator Clinton she is a woman who could be a rock star on the national political stage without all the negatives in tow.  Very much an unknown outside the northwest.  But she's very very good.

Twolane you deserve credit for the long shot call.........nobody really had her on the short list
I was hoping she was....but was sure she was not on the list
