Howie,

Looking at your garage really made me feel great!   I just went through the same ordeal and wow, not an event to look forward to.  I had 8 years of accumulated stuff, but at the end of a very long day and several trips to the dumpster (yard sales are for the birds!), a large donation stack for the Kidney Foundation and sore back, I had successfully regained control of my garage.  Discovered a bit more space for an additional bike which is either good or bad depending on the viewer's perspective.  I think it's a great space for visiting guests!  Congrats on getting your's done.    Also, I noticed that Cybil is not wearing the Corbin saddle in the photos.  What's up?

Craig

It's nice getting all that space back, huh Craig! :2vrolijk_21:

Very observant and first one to ask. I'm waiting for it to be returned from Corbin after getting reworked. They were to finish it and ship it back to me last week. It didn't ship. Still waiting. :nixweiss: ;)

What instruction did you end up giving them on the saddle Howie?  Their "nose job" or something even more involved?

p.s., I not only didn't see the saddle I couldn't find Cybil in all that stuff :huepfenlol2: !

Who the hell knows anymore Don! I met with Don from Corbin in Americade and he gave me direction. I worked with Sergio in the Daytona store who worked up the work order and gave Jenni the RA number for me. I returned it 5 weeks ago (for a 4 week turn around). Never heard from them again! I called last week and was asked my height and inseam. This told me they never started it!!! :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I told them I had a trip starting Labor Day Weekend. It seems they're now gonna scramble to finish it for me. Not thrilled the way they've handled this so far. I hope I don't have to return it again after I get it back. It's been total torture trying to speak to someone there. This company is not going to last if they don't get their act back together soon! Mike doesn't seem to pay the business enough attention these days!!! >:( ;)

Not even sure what I'm looking at there.  Is that supposed to be a leather imprint of some kind that just didn't take or is it a plain leather that got something on it?  Whatever it looks terrible.

Corbin seems to be a much more a crap shoot than they used to be.  Did not used to so commonly hear complaints on their products or efforts.

I've had something of mixed bag with them recently.  The seat for the Road Glide arrived made well; but not precisely as it was ordered.  I didn't dislike what they'd done.  They just didn't follow the instruction for the stitch pattern and had simply misinformed me about rear backrest options.  They did pony up with an immediate and actually quite fair compensation though.  I had a tour pak backrest being recovered to match the seat.  They did that work materials and labor for free.

Couple weeks ago I ordered a piece of tan ostrich leather 24x36 to recover a tour pak backrest to match the tan seat for the red bike.  It arrived as a variably shaped chunk that averaged 30x44.  But it was obviously end scrap off a roll.  Several holes in it and smaller punctures.  Usable width was only about 21".   Largest usable section was 14x18" or something close to that.

Made the obvious phone call.  Eventual resolution was their offering without prompting to send a call tag to pick up the material AND the back rest I was going to get recovered locally.  They'll use what material is necessary to recover the backrest free of charge.  I'll have the original material bill.  But no labor either locally or with them.  And no freight cost.  So they did screw up; again.  But they also stepped right up and offered a willing and fair effort to make up for having done so.

Even though I've had them offer fair resolutions after problems that jives with what I've run in to with them on the front end of things.  When putting together the red seat for the Road Glide it was incredibly difficult to get answers out them.  Very very difficult.  Even them some of the answers were wrong; and that was after I'd tried to get independent confirmation by asking the same question both in Florida and in California.

Accuracy and effectiveness on the front end just is not their best thing anymore.  I love the saddles.  Those I have or have had have all been great.  It needs to be easier and less hassle to be able to get info or product from them though.

It's water under your own bridge now of course.  But I have had a rep at Corbin tell me that, if possible, saddle reworks and the like should be held off until winter.  Since it's freebie work it can too easily be set back behind other tasks.  It should not be that way of course.  Just one of those it-is-what-it-is things.  Three years or so ago when I had them rework the front and sides of the black seat for the red bike it was a three week turn-around; in January.

Yes, it is sad.......I've been holding off on a Corbin seat that needs complete recovering due to the different horror stories.......I've talked to the reps in Daytona in person and still not sure what to do with the needed re-work job.  Why does a company's success have to mean a degradation of their quality?  :nixweiss: spyder

Is it just an upholstery recover Spyder?  If so why deal with them if there is uncertainty or discomfort?

Very likely some automotive upholstery shop within a decent range that can recover the saddle.  If there's a shop that does street rod work a bike saddle reupholster is well within their skill level.

Howie,

I am available for consults relative to OCD Garages...Not five, but I fit four in some time ago with room for plenty more...
BTW, are those oil stains on your floor a result of the 110 ;D

Yes, on this saddle it is.....but, I want the custom materials and stitching as Corbin did so well previously.....I'm still debating having someone else re-do it due to the uneasy feelings I'm having w/ Corbin.  Just have not identified who I'm comfortable with yet.  One problem is getting the correct Corbin (hard) foam..... and the other types don't cut it for me. I'm going to do something this winter, right or wrong.  :-\ har!  spyder

If it's rebuilding the foam base as well as a material reupholstery that's of course a more involved project.  It's something that personally I'd send to Corbin.  Would certainly make it a winter project though.  Prefaced with very specific phone conversation(s) and complementing written instruction in the box wth the seat.

Quite frankly all that still may not get the job done.  But it has to at least help move the odds in your favor.

Yeah, just can't seem to let go of chit, even though there's little chance I'll ever use it again. Like stock CVO takeoffs! I'm gonna put a crapload of bike stuff on EBay! From a 110 engine (less the cases), to solid mount 4-speed stuff, to Dyna stuff, and RK stuff! I'll put the list up here first, in case any of ya'll need something from it! ;)

Craig

Moving every 2-3 years has its benefits...  While I still have too much stuff, I leave behind PILES every move.  I am already getting ready for the move next year with my eye on crap I can dump.

This move we are going to start packing in Mid Jan and not rush.

yeah right
