Yeah, there are these small hassles alwasy involved whenever you're selling bikes or parts of bikes that belong to someone else.  Not really fair if you ask me.  People should be more giving.  Especially in an election year.

I need to upgrade the rear air suspension I am considering the progressive 440 IAS heavy duty shocks I believe I can go with the 13 inch shocks any advice or comments would be appreciated

I wonder, are you leaving the front as is? Or what have you changed there?

For the sake of trying to bring this thread back onto the straight and narrow, what is the standard non CVO rear shock length?  On my old '76 FLH 12" is stock and 11" is considered a lowering rear shock.

I also know that it's not "recommended" to just do the rear on a CVO that's been lowered from the factory, but when you ride mostly two up like I do and both rider and passenger is a bit husky, I can't really see it contributing to any major handling issues.  That is more than the normal handling habits of a lower factory CVO.  I actually think, yes sometimes I do think, that it would keep the bike in a more neutral to level plain versus being a bit down in the back.

I'm sorry, I'm asking this about a '08 SERK.

When considering the Progressive 440's, with a human carrying weight of say 440#, I would think the heavy duty would be the shock of choice.  Correct?

Now you can get back to selling off parts from a bike you don't own.  If the seat is better than mine, I might be interested in that...

I have 11's on my 07 serk...Rides nice, ride str-8 swingarm stab too, both put on at the same time, so I don't know which contributed more to tightening up the back end.

I am going the Progressive path on my SERK - have their stuff in my KLR and it was an amazing improvement. 

I am 250'ish, wife is, well the wife is (answer that and she finds out, she beats me). 

I am going the HD route just cause I am a big mofo, I also intend to change to 20W oil in the forks since I cannot budget for a Traxxion setup.  The SERK as is, is WAY to loose for me.  It dances on the smallest bumps, way my KLR used to before I tightened it up.

The stock SERK3/4 shock height is 12", and uses HD Profile shocks with the front lowered 1" as well. I raised my front with the Traxxion AK-20 cartridge conversion, with no changes required to the stock fork parts, but the internals. I installed 330mm (13") bitubo shocks in the rear, bring the suspension back to Standard stock RK height.

Lucky 13, that was the number I was looking for.

I realize you did both front and rear at the same time, but I've read here that many have just changed out the rears but I've not heard if it adversely affects handling with the front an inch lower.

But like I said, with the wife and I on the bike we're probably about stock SERK height with normal people on board.

Dan, I discussed this with Traxxion when I was down there. They said there would be some adverse effect from having taller shocks than the front end. They recommended against doing that. A geometry thing, but I don't remember the details. CRS I guess! They said a taller front is less of an issue than a taller rear. (no wise cracks ) I rode with the stock shocks until the 330mm bitubos came in. Since the front was now so good, and the rear atill sucked so bad, it was hard to tell what was due to the height!

Thanks Howie,  I've been trying to find out the correct shock length for a while now. My rear shocks do not want to hold air for very long so it is time to toss them in the trash and go with the 440's.

More commonly the question is who isn't cheaper than J&P.  Try M&M or, if he's a dealer for them, the site's own resident motorcycle savant; HD-Dude.
