No MoCo support for CVO
« on: June 30, 2005, 11:04:09 PM »

Is it just me, or does it seem to you that once the bikes are sold, the MoCo has forgotten about us?  No CVO decals for our vehicles, no patches for pride of owning a CVO, virtually nothing in CVO clothing, no CVO publications, nor anything else for us to tout our rides to the public and each other. [smiley=furious3.gif]

This would indicate to me that, even tho we are buying the most expensive, and probably the most profitable bikes they sell, there aren't enough of us for them to mass market to, so the hell with it. [smiley=smilie_daumenneg.gif]

Maybe we all ought to send an e-mail to the headquarters and let them know how we feel.  At least we can vent [smiley=sauer021.gif]

You've got a point Striker....but we're not alone...They treat everyone who buys a bike pretty much the same. Its the Dealerships that take care of (or not take care of) the customers.

That's why this site is so important!  We are taking care of ourselves the way good Bikers should.........and if we need specialized clothing we develop it (ie: the CVO Jacket that a number of members now sport).........if we need special calling cards we develop ( now in the process of a 2nd Edition)......and on, and on, and on.   The MOCO did not take us to raise, just developed the best looking and sounding V-Twin Street Bike around for us to purchase and begin refineing.   Har!    [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] spyder

Amen Spyder.   It's been quite some time since I really expected anything from HD other than taking my money for a bike every few years.  Taking the money they do quite well though.  Sadly not a lot can be expected of too many of the dealers either.  So you're a step ahead of the game if some degree of self-reliance is expected and known to be needed before entry.  It's just a real benefit, however, to occasionally run in to a group like this that without even giving it a second thought offers up more in experience, guidance, advice and fellowship for free than we'd ever buy from Harley Davidson.

Can I just say "Here!  Here!"

I have learned more about my bike here than I ever could have from the HD shop next to me, from the HOG chapter I belong to or the MoCo of course...... cause they don't have a bike like mine. If you don't have one, you can't advise me.  I still appreciate adivice, don't get me wrong.... But if you are not walking in my boots..... then it is only so good.

You guys have helped me a lot,  thanks.. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Right on, Striker!  I at least expected a nice form letter from headquarters congratulating me on my purchase of a CVO vehicle and a nice personalized warranty card (I got one with my regular ol' FXDX several years ago, another idea that the bean counters probably threw out).  When I bought my FXDX, I received a letter from H-D, a free calendar from my dealer with a picture of me and the bike, several follow-up letters from my dealer, a phone call from my dealer, and to this day I still get personalized mailings and newsletters from the dealer.  On the SEEG (different dealer), I've received nothing other than the standard survey asking about the sales experience at the dealership (which doesn't even go to H-D by the way; a survey company just tabulates the results and sends H-D a statistical analysis).

By the way - we can't email H-D because they choose to not make that option available.

From H-D's Web Site:

To contact the Motor Company directly, please write:

Harley-Davidson Customer Service
3700 W. Juneau Avenue

To speak with a Harley-Davidson customer service representative call (414) 343-4056.

"it's expensive"

I effing LOVE when someone pulls that on me. Naitram's the only one of you that's met me. I'm not exactly "clean cut". I occasionally employ less than acceptable adjectives in my speech, and am not what you'd call...Delicate looking.

Each time I walk in to a dealer, or any place of business, and detect even the slightest condescension, I then ramp up the attitude and try to make the person who looked down on me for my long hair, scruffy beard, and lots of leather realize how they blew a potential, loyal customer who, despite all appearances, can afford what I'm shopping for, with their own attitude.

"It's expensive", depending on the tone in which it's delivered...to me...translates into "out of your league".

I had that happen at a car dealer where I was looking at spending a couple thousand on a used car. Of course I proceeded across the street, and purchased a new one, spending more than I'd intended. I also made sure the dealer who messed up, knew why.

Chances are...the attitude problem's mine. But, if I'm planning to spend 20k, or so on a new H-D, I expect to be treated as someone who's about to make the dealer a nice profit.

So..."it's expensive" burns me a little.

...I need a Pepsi. Apparently, I'm a little testy today.

I have always been independant of the dealer, doing all of the work on my bikes that I could.  My point is, you can go into any dealer, and find a dedicated area to the general population of Harley owners, you can even find a section in some shops for Buell owners.  A month ago, I went into a Denver dealer with a friend of mine that owns a Buell.  He got to talking with a salesman, and they were giving away $100 Buell bags for taking a test ride.  Guess what, since it was raining they just had him fill out a card and gave him the bag.  He also was able to buy a few Buell shirts, flirted with getting a summer Buell riding jacket and some other stuff.  This is about a model that many dealers have dropped 'cause they can't sell the bike.
So, I asked them what they have for CVO owners..... you know the response. [smiley=huh2.gif]  This is my main gripe.  They have had the models for going on 6 years, and don't think we can afford a shirt??? [smiley=zwtf.gif]
