I'll venture that with the CD changer and the other extras the 00's and 01's SERGs were 60# heavier as well.  I know the 06 and 07 Cuse's were almost 80# heavier than the standard CU.

For you early SERG fans, the CD changer is a JVC unit and almost all the parts are (were) available.  It seems like the suspension donuts were the most typical problem.  They are fairly easily replaced.  Someplace I've got the JVC part # if anybody is insterested.

That wouldn't surprise me at all John.  Tour pak and lowers and other smaller bits in 2000 and the changer on top of that in your 01.  This thread has me curious on the contemporary models though.

Little fatter rear and the added rear fascia.  Throw on the saddlebag extensions too.  I can't immediately see 60 pounds there.  Guess it adds on in a hurry.

I rode mine for the first time tonight.  It is the best balanced bike I've ever ridden.  I've ridden the following to give you an idea, 882, Deuce, FXDWG3, Road Glide, SE fat boy, SEEG, Police EG, Street Glide, and now the SERG.  Those were not all mine, but family and friends. The SERG was just a well balanced bike with excellent suspension, braking, and excellaration.  Check out my latest post on my thread, drum roll please.
