TIRED OF THE BLACK STARTER AND SOLENOID? PICS NOW POSTED!!!!!
« on: August 29, 2008, 07:30:54 PM »

I have this piece on order from Kuyakyn, looks like a nice, inexpensive alternative to replacing the entire starter with a chrome one ..... let me know what you guys think.

Hey Tom

As a SEEG owner with a chrome starter, I definitely like the look it provides for a sea of chrome under the tank.
But now, with my sights set on a new SE Ultra, I am looking at less expensive alternatives to dress it up.
The pics you post seem like they might certainly be a consideration!  ;D

I am hoping you will do this, and then post the after pics to show it off!!! ;D ;D ;D
So that I may decide my course of action!

Take care!

I want to know how it is that Tony has been a member here since '06 and owns a SEEG and this is his first post? Glad you came out of the closet!  ;D

AJ,

Something had to drawn him out, I guess the Kuryakyn cover set touched a nerve.

I wonder why it says it is specifically for CVO applications?  Aren't the starter dimensions, etc. the same on a regular bike?

The Kuryakyn cover set #8639 or #8638 is designed specifically for the CVO specific high output starter due to the way it mounts. The high output starter does not have the bracket with the center hole as do the regular harley starters which is why the standard harley chrome starter cover will not fit on our bikes. You would think that for $32,000 to $35,000 Harley would include the chrome high output starters on our bikes as stock, but no, then they would lose the opportunity to generate more revenue (SOBs).

HAHAHAHAHA! LRebel! I laugh at this, cuz it seems ironic to me how all this time has passed since you wrote this, and I am just now seeing it!!

As for that being my first post.....I find that amazing myself...But my dad always told me...."unless you got something important to say"........oh never mind that!!   Let's just say I am like a sponge, and I like to soak it all in!!!
And there is certainly plenty of good stuff on this site for me to get my head around!! ;D

PLUS, this should be my 18th post!!! Does this mean I am still a virgin? :'(

Thanks ya'll

LRebel....

Well...honestly, I just got my bike back from the stealer, having been in the shop for 4(FOUR) WEEKS!! :-[
It was not a pleasant experience. I literally had to go and SHOW them what was wrong (starter grinding), and they STILL couldn't figure it out!! The service manager finally got tired of my complaints and installed a new (chrome) starter. All of it was under warranty by ESP. They were other issues that were MOSTLY taken care of, but not all. Which means ANOTHER trip
to the one-armed mechanic!!!!!   :'(
That was last week, and have been at work ever since, with no chance to ride!  :(
I hate ending my post pissed off...so...here is my self therapy!!!  :orange: :mango: :bananarock: :apple:

Ahhhh...much better!!
