I believe the extra compression referred to is the cranking pressure caused from the short duration 255 cams.

yes I mean dynamic compression which is around 215 psi...mild performance motors usually run 180 to 190 psi...stock 96" motors around 160

yes...you'd be better off with something with around 42* intake close if you intend to keep the stock throttle body and no headwork

I've already got the SE 50 mm throttlebody and I'm going with the 251s and the 10.5 pistons when its in for the  upgrade or recall or product improvement or what ever the heck you want to call it. I'm getting ancy I hope I'm happy with the results. Currently it dynoed at 90 hp and 110 ft/lb torque.

I too am contemplating the "need" for any additional upgrades when my 08 SERK goes in for the "Product Improvement"  :-\

oilcan,
I ran 251 cams in a 103 roadking at 10.7 compression (maybe a little too much)...it ran like a scalded dog...I believe you'll be happy with your results

sky hook,

Did you have to back the timing down some to eliminate pinging, I'm a little worried about this because it is not always the easiest thing to find good gas. Hell maybe I'll just keep a bottle of octane boost in the saddle bags incase good gas is scrarce.

the build was an '05 flhr, s.e. 103 kit, flattop pistons, .030 head gaskets, blueprinted s.e. mcr heads, compression releases, 251 cam, bassani roadrage 2>1 exhaust, stock t/body, advanced tuned power commander, big sucker a/c...it didn't require a lot of timing retard, probably due to the bathtub style combustion chambers and thin head gaskets...the cvo 110 heads don't have as much squish, so I'm not sure how much compression is the breakover point...would have to do some research...just a wild guess I'd stay below 195 psi on a bagger

The parts should be in for the upgrade later this week(Hopefully) The tech at the dealership said it shouldnot take too long for the job and they ussually do a pretty decent job on the tune so I'm hoping for pretty good results.

Right now my bike is set up with a detachabel tour pac, If I run into problems It will be if I take a good trip and put the toupack on and load her down good. Oh well I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

OK, is anyone running the TW408-44 cams in the stock 110?

My dealer is willing to put in the SE251 cams but also was concerned that I might not see "enough" difference, so he suggested going to a Woods cam TW408-44.

what is the difference between a SE251 cam and Woods TW408-44 cam?

2nd question, the head that gets replaced in the enhancement campaign is a stock 110 head? or SE head?
from reading the previous posts I am confused.

right now my enhancement build will consist of
new cams    SE251 or TW408-44  need more info on what is entailed
Torrington bearings
head work? polishing exhaust port and chamber?
perfect fit rods
maybe cometic gasket if I can get dealer to agree?
leave bottom end alone.
have crank runout measured to see if under .003 or over .012
another dyno tune after work complete

Question, did I miss something?
lifters ? I only have 7k on the stock lifters

absolutely have heads blueprinted and pocket ported...251 and 408-44 are both good...408-44 a little better down low...always change lifters with cams...insist on .030 head gasket and cylinders need to be milled for no more than .005 deck height
