Cobra, Bub7's, D and D
« on: September 01, 2008, 06:59:15 AM »

Now that I have my new ride, I stuggle with the decision of pipes. Most companies are saying that they're slip ons are working on the 09's.  I tried Vance and Hines and they are not looking right on the back of ther SERG with the facia and extended bags.  Not to mention the mounting brackets move the V&H pipe about 1/2 lower than stock.

Bub7 makes a reverse slash cut that would flow with with rear of the bike and does not appear to have an 1/2" mounting bracket, it appears they mount flush to HD bracket.

D and D makes a set too and they are also close the 4" diameter of the stock.  Cobra makes a great looking 4" billet pipe very similar to the stock and I really like the look of the stock.  However, I've only seen Cobra's on a couple of bikes and they weren't baggers.  And it appears they have the same mounting style as the V&H.

Luckily, I have befriended the parts manager and he is ordering a bunch of different styles for me and helping me trying them out.  Whatever won't work, he'll put on a bike on the floor as an accessory.

MikeD,  I stopped by the dealership and drooled over your bike before you picked it up.  That's a sweet looking ride. Congrats.  I tried to talk Jerry into selling it to me before you took delivery, but he said it would be the last bike he ever sold, because you would kill him.  Have you looked into Fullsac recores?  They take your stock mufflers and recore them with 1.75" or 2" baffles.  I have a set of 2" and I like the sound, but are a little too loud for me, so I am getting a set of the 1.75" baffles.  They bolt in so you can change them out.

Your right about Jerry,  at times I felt bad for hounding him and asking him "is my bike in yet?"  He would call me and when I answered the phone, he immediately would say, "your bike's not in Mike, but..."

So you didn't have to do any welding then?  That sounds almost too easy.  Did you put a tuner on?
