« on: September 03, 2008, 04:47:30 AM »

I called the dealer yesterday it get a rough Idea what i could get for my 06 heritage classic, He told me if would have asked over the weekend it would have been around $9100 but as of yesterday all trade in prices went up with what ever book they use. Now I can get around $12100.

New Math. Trade in values increases usually are commensurate with the inability to reduced the sale price which results in the dealer maintaining the % of net profit without affecting the sale price negatively and they take a smaller net on the resale of the trade-IMO

Whew, that's one heckuva bump up - 33%.  Kinda makes be wonder if he was BSing you about the $9,100 just to make you feel better.  As long as he didn't bump up what he wants for the new bike it's a win-win for you for sure.  Good luck.

Sounds like he's quoting you a HIGH trade value for your Heritage.  He might be working you!  If you're looking at a bike that he needs to move or a bike that's over priced he may have bumped your trade value to make it seem like a good deal.  Basically the way it works is if he's offering you more for your bike than what it's worth, the bike you're buying is selling for more than what it's worth.

Makes me wonder why?

Probably because the new models 07 and up are junk.. The older models are more reliable.  :nixweiss:

I'm buying the Grey and Blue CVO Fatbob that they have coming in at the end of the month, Also I'm getting $1000 take off the MSRP price and I'm getting around $12100 for my 06 heritage. I think thats a good deal.

I hope you have a deal sheet in hand stating those numbers and make sure they don't try to hide some $ in doc and setup fees. Stealers love to rob you in those two area's

If you are waiting for your new bike I would try to unload your 06 for a few more coins! It sounds like a goos deal but I have not checked the book on your 06. No matter how you look at it they are making money.

I went to the dealer yesterday to work out the numbers, They showed me both books, old and the new one. I'm getting 13K for the Heritage. Plus the 1K off the MSRP. I'll end up owing around 16500. that includes ext warranty, taxes and so on. They are going to move my Lo-jack from the 06 to the new bike. I just wish HD would allow me to transfer my warranty from the 06 since I still have 5 years to go on it.
The bike is shipping from York PA on Aug 22, so I should have it shorty after that.  :orange:

I just checked Book Values on a couple of SE's. I used Nada and Kbb. It seems they differ. Nada gives you a higher AVERAGE RETAIL and Kbb just you retail and it is lower.

If the Dealer changed books that would explain the difference in prices.
