Governor Sarah Heath Palin, (#22 from Wasilla) from the 1982 Alaskan State High School Girls Basketball Championship.

Judging from the photo in my high school in 1982, here nickname would have been "Thunder Thighs."   :2vrolijk_21:
oh yeh, pic them around your neck... guess this post is heading for the bin

she was amazing last night in the speech...

Gulliani was pretty funny also, he was the Obama slammer designate.
Is her speach online anywhere?

I received this note from a friend (Gravy) regarding Palin and the Alaska National Guard.

Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard, consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter-terrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Well, I didn't include it in the reply above, but he also added that the note was sent to his wife.  He made his apologies to her, his wife, but said that he wanted to marry the woman, Palin.  He'll have to get in line (her, Palin's, current husband may need to be concerned about his health).

From Factcheck.org
We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

    * Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.

    * She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a "What if?" question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin's first term.

    * She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

    * Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a "courtesy" when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.

    * Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. She has said that students should be allowed to "debate both sides" of the evolution question, but she also said creationism "doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

When did Bin Ladin Jr.'s couple of years of state senate and 143 DAYS in the senate equal her time in office. Not to mention the fact he has never penned or sponsored a single Bill but yet he has wrote two books both of which blast America and the white race.....hummmm. Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out

BTW..do you know the difference between Bin Ladin and Obama???...Obama is full of more B.S
Obama got 19 million people to vote for him to run for Prez. Thats the difference.

Ok, I'm done with Sister Sarah after this post. First a clarification, I didnt say she was a member of the Alaska independence party, i said her husband was. This lady was'nt vetted carefully and will be one of the reasons why McCain loses. She is not ethical in past dealings (not unusual in any politician) but a bigger problem since she claims to be a reformer. Currently, she is under investigation for abuse of power. There will be unflattering articles about her in Newsweek, The Nation etc in the next 2 weeks. She is being questioned for the heavy involvement her husband has had in state affairs when he is not an employee of the state. She is or will be shortly investigated for very questionable expense reports she filled out on her and her husbands behalf for approx $16k as gov. She hired Ted Steven's ex chief of Staff (thats the Alaskan senator who was recently criminally indicted for accepting hundreds of thousands in bribes from contractors doing business with the state) to lobby congress for earmarks when whe was mayor and got $27m for a town of 5000 people. Interestly, Ted Stevens was chairman of the senate appropriations comittee at the time.
Its part of our political process to get this intense scrutiny, specially if you are a newcomer to national politics. Lets see if she lives upto her hype.

I bet you if you put Osama on ticket, worldwide, he'll get over 60% of the Muslim votes.  Does that make him smarter or more qualified to lead?
As of 2007, Total Muslim Population was  1.61   billion.

Democrats really are in some sort of meltdown mode over the Obama poll numbers dropping as expected & McCain

being smart enough to choose a positive qualified running mate instead of a vote loser like Biden.

A quick read around & about indicates they are VERY worried, and have reasons to be.
