GOD bless you and the entire family during this difficult time.  Know that you all are blessed with family and friends to assist during this time of need.

We will lift all of you up in prayer.

Bless you all during this time.

I've just received this pic of my father in icu. I wanted to post this to let everyone know who has sent well wishes that they are being graciously received. Dad was very surprised to hear of all the prayers being sent. If pictures are worth a thousand words this one may be worth a million. What a fighter!! Thanks to all!!!!

Howie

Howie,

Your dad and I have the same haircut :2vrolijk_21: .

Thanks for sharing the photo Howie.  Put a smile on my face.  Glad to see him awake and aware and responsive.  Good stuff man!

Thanks

Hey GH

As Twolane has said, it's much harder to ask than to give. Each & every one of us needs help of some kind or another at verious times of our lives. Makes me feel good that I can be a small part of the help. Your Father, You & the rest of your family will be in my thoughts & prayers. God be with all of you.       Linny

Thanks for the pic Howie.  How did MD Anderson weather the weather in Houston?

MD Anderson did very well with the hurricane. They are well prepared as you might imagine. Structurally, they use things like flood gates for protection. Of course once they are lowered I am told no one in or out until the party's over. Backup generators worked well. Skeleton crew did a great job of seamless care from what I'm told.  :2vrolijk_21:

As a side note the remnants of Ike knocked out power here. Just over 41,000 still without power in this county.  :nixweiss:

GH - Just want to let you know your Dad is in my thoughts & prayers.  No better facility than M.D. Anderson - several friends went there with a poor prognosis that are alive & well today in spite of predictions to the contrary.  Glad to hear they were well prepared for the storm.  Hoping for all the best for you & your family.

GH - The pic of your dad bought back some memories.  Know that you and yours are in the thoughts and prayers of complete strangers the other side of the globe.  Battle on.

Sending a prayer and a little help is on its way from Mineral Wells. Prayers and thoughts to you too. Hug your mom. She needs it.

Hello everyone.  I can't write to all of you as friends because I've not been fortunate to meet everyone who will read this.  I need to ask a favor though.  The CVO Community is special enough that i know you'll at least consider the request.  Thanks beforehand for taking the time to do so.

My father is very ill with Stage IV Cancer.  He's fought a battle of this sort previously, but not to this magnitude.  Not long ago we were afraid he'd not come through it this time.  We still don't know he will.  But he's fighting hard again.

We've had to move him from his home here in Syracuse to Houston for life saving treatment.  The treatments have been long and difficult and expensive.  Our family has helped where we can.  But now the expenses are almost as frightening to him as is the disease.

No one is asking for help with large medical expenses.  That's too much.  Do not give until it hurts.  But, if you can, enough to help just a little would be a Godsend.

The cost of a dinner out or what you'd spend taking the family to a movie.  Something like that.  It would mean more to my dad than you can know right now.

More history and a donation link can be found here:

Thank you, everyone.  Very much.

Howie & Raquel
Howie,
Our prayers are with your Dad and all the family.
It's hard on everyone when we come face to face with these challenges.
Prayers and funds are en route for a little help.

God bless,
Ron

Howard,

A little donation (from wife and I) from CA and hope your dad recovers from his remission.

A quick note to all my friends for their help and prayers. We honestly cannot explain how much it has helped.

It is with a very heavy heart that we must share that our Dad passed September 23, 2008. We've never witnessed
a more valiant fighter and there is a large hole here today.

We would like all to know that Dad expressed almost disbelief when told of your prayers. Prayers from those he
never met.

We can't thank everyone enough.

Sorry to read this Howie.  Terribly sorry.  That it couldn't have been completely unexpected makes it no less painful and heartbreaking.  Keep those you love close.  Hope you found a way to give him a rousing send-off.

Thoughts are with you man.  Be well and take the moments you need for yourself as well.
