I have 70k on my '05.  Makes me feel a bit better now but above is what would have said three years ago.

I have 51K on the cherry and not even close to that invested.  Now the pumpkin is another story since I bought it 15 months ago with 7K miles on it and have 22K on it now...

Definately more miles than $ but I'll never catch Ernie's total or IRyde's......that man rides! :2vrolijk_21:  42k and counting on my clock.

More $ than miles, easily.  Only 13.5K miles.  Best guess is $35K in it at the moment.

Projecting out 3 years I'd guess the bike will have $40K in it after a few upgrades.

If I go the Hoist route on the engine (contemplating it....) then I'll have $50K in it, easy.

Either way I expect to have 50K miles on it by 2011, not too difficult at 10K / year average.  I do put a fair number of non CVO miles on the V-rod for total 2 wheel mileage of about 15K.  By the end of 08 it will have 20K or so on it, plus or minus.  So at some point I expect the $ line and the mileage line to cross on the SERK.  It'll be relatively soon (and a helluva lot easier) on the V-rod.

Let's see:

8K and counting on the 2003 SED
22K and sold on the 2004 SEEG
43K and sold on the 2006 CUSE
10K and counting on the 2008 CUSE

83K miles total on four bikes:
rounded cost....$130K minus trade-in value of the sold bikes $42K equals $88K

.......more money than miles....

until the MV trip is complete!

As I was adding up $'s spent since bike acquisition, I was wondering if the mileage ridden line ever exceeds the $'s spent line on these things.

Who out there has more miles ridden than $'s spent on their sled! Don't forget to include purchase price and all the trinkets you've added. Feel free to leave off tax, license, insurance, fuel and maintenance. I fear if we included total cost of ownership the lines on the graph would NEVER cross.

  I say about a dollar a mile.......  well maybe 2 dollars a mile! ;D

$2.50 per mile. Plus the cost of fuel, insurance, accessories, speeding tickets and tires.

I haven't riden much in the last 18 months, working too much, and some family issues too, so I only have 93,000 miles on my '00 FLTRSEI. Still a lot more miles than dollars though.

Since I dont have my CVO (yet) I'll apply it where I can.

2008 Anniv. FLHX, purchased new in January. Total cost including tax, lic doc, warranties, etc: $25K

Current mileage 13,300.... I'd say I'll get my moneys' worth out of it.

I hope the SERG will be as good to me as the FLHX

Up until the latest issue with my health, I normally put about 40k in mileage over an average three year span on a bike before selling it and that about equaled the investment. Using Bill's formula of deducting the money I got from the sale after the mileage, of course I was way way ahead on mileage side. LD however has me way down on the serious side of the more dollars than miles equation though.

Old age sucks
