65115-98B are these a extremely loud muffler & do I need a PCIII
« on: September 06, 2008, 02:50:23 PM »

There is a seller on Ebay who has 10 sets of these HD 65115-98B Screamin Eagle Mufflers. I was wondering if these are a very loud muffler? Say louder then the Rinehart or V & H Ovals?

Also if I leave my stock AC on would I need to get a PCIII?

TIA,
John

John, the 65115-98B is the one that requires the additional purchase of end caps, in case the ebay seller didn't mention that.  The attachment is from an old SE catalog.

Not worried about the endcaps and yes the seller did mention it ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=220278210364) , I just would like to know if there are REAL loud and would require me to get a PCIII and high flow AC. From what I have read the new SE mufflers are a waste of money as they are no louder than stock exhaust on the bike. Although I do like the looks of the 4" fishtales SE II Performance mufflers I can not see dumping that type of money for somthing that will sound the same a stock.

As I mentioned in another post when I went to purchase the new SE II Performance Mufflers the parts guy told me flat out "You do not want those" as he has had many complaints on how quiet they are.

I'm looking for a nice sounding muffler that will not beat the crao out of my ears on the higyway.

Thanks,
John

I had these on my bike for 2 years, they are louder than stock pipes but
not as loud as Rineharts. Maybe as loud as V&H ovals. They have a nice
sound to them. I always recommend a PCIII when you open up either
the exhaust or intake. They are to lean stock much less when you open
them up. Open up the intake and exhaust and add a PCIII and you will
like the results. :2vrolijk_21:

Your bike would run way lean! These mufflers are free flowing. Had them on the SEEG after cam work. Sound level similar to Rhinehart slip on with stock head pipe. Would need to richen things up. I returned mufflers to stock and removed PCIII because they were too loud for mama. This setup does bring a good performance increase. Could make you a deal on both, slightly used. PM me if interested.

Ran these on two different bikes - '99 ultra with 95" bb kit and '06 cuse with 103" motor.  They are definitely louder on the 103, noticeably so imo.  Were a tad bit loud for mama but not as loud as Rinehart.  Good performing slip-on, made by Kerker/Super Trapp who still sells them as their p/n 128-65115 - http://www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=43

Have a friend who runs them on his '06 cuse with no other mods - no hi-flow a/c and no mod to richen motor.  Has about 22k on it and no problems I know of but I do think it only make an already lean run condition even worse.  Personally I wouldn't run them without richening things up with a pc, sert, etc.

I have these on mine with no tune or high flow cleaner.  What I did do was add the xIED fuel enrichment device.  It plugs inline with the O2 sensors to add some resistance and add fuel to the FI system.  It was a 5 minute, no tool install.

I really like the sound.  I wouldn't call them loud.  Like mentioned above, not as loud Rinehardt and similar to V&H ovals but a deeper note to them than the ovals.  It's a good HD sound.  It's tough to decide what "loud" is.  Everyone's idea is a little different.  It's hard for the passenger to hear the radio at 75mph no matter what sound is coming from the pipes.  They don't get any attention from border guards or police.
